12 oz bottle poured near black with a towering, creamy light brown head.

Feel: creamy and full bodied feel. Soft, medium carbonation.

Rich and relatively complex, with a good suggestion of chocolate and a hint of coffee with the dark roasted malt character. Subtle hints of smoke and black licorice.

O: a robust porter in style, this is also on the new label.

look: 4 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 4 | overall: 3.5

Poured from 12oz bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: extremely dark hue with some ruby highlights when held up to the light. There also appears to be very light haze and a strong effervescence. Head is a thick finger of frothy tan foam with decent retention and a nice lace. A good looking porter.

Smell: roasty with a good caramel character. There's also a sweet creaminess here which reminds me a lot of a milk stout. It's a bit muddy, but overall pretty good.

Taste: roastiness right off the bat, with a bitter astringency that detracts a bit from overall enjoyment. Some of the sweetness from the aroma is there, but mostly it and the caramel are gone. Not as well-composed as the aroma, but not too bad.

Mouthfeel: medium-light body with a good carbonation and creaminess. I like it.

Overall: this beer is pretty decent, but it lacks balance and the flavor has too much bitterness from the roasted malt.

I really like this beer. It is Malty, Complex, Roasty, Chocolaty, Medium-body. Excellent head. I will buy again when it comes out next year. This is the first time I have tried this Micro Brewery I will now put it on my to try list. I am glad someone is making a nice Porter. I wish more would. The local micro said that it's a winter beer. I don't agree.
