A - Slightly hazy straw to light gold, soapy head with good lacing. Beer has some nice activity, some yeast and/or hop particles noticeable

S - Pineapple, herbal resin

T - Hop bitterness is backed up by a nice, firm malt backbone.

M - Very crushable, good carbonation keeps it clean and light

O - Very crushable, if not terribly exciting IPA. Because of the firm malt character, and more balanced hop profile, this reminds me more of an English IPA. Very good.

Review from BeerAdvocate Magazine Issue #51 (April 2011):

Head pops up pretty quick, not gushing, but four fingers high and took forever to drop down. Pale amber glow has a good clarity. Soft resin-like mint, spice and some citric ... an aroma takeover. Mild level of carbonation, smooth and a bit slick within the medium body. Hops slap down a thick oily flavor of spice, citric and mint ... bitterness is not rough, just firm. Yeah, there is malt there, but it struggles to poke through the thick blanket of hop flavor. Kiss of alcohol and exotic fruit in the semisweet finish ... there is the malt waiting for us in the end. Good drinking and an easy way to get your hop fix.

Pours a clear light copper/orange in color with ado get of white head. Aroma has a touch of floral hops but is mostly pale malts. Taste is slightly caramelly sweet upfront with a touch of floral, slightly citrus hop bitterness. Finish starts balanced leaning towards bitter but then changes to a subtle sweetness. Decent mouthfeel, nearly medium body low-moderate carbonation. Overall a decent beer but leans too sweet for my tastes. I find this beer to be somewhere between a generic American IPA and an English IPA. It had the more malty character of the English iteration but had the hints of citrus that are typical of a West Coast American IPA. Overall I'd sayvzthat this lacks a definitive identity especially in East Coast/New England/West Coast American IPA world. It's not a bad beer by any means but given the myriad of more appealing options I won't likely revisit this very options.

Pours a clear amber color with two fingers of light beige head. Head retention is quite good, with a chunky and full lace that replenishes itself after each sip. Also leaves a messy web of stick on the sides.

Smell has a nice citrus aroma and grapefruit pith and is quite resiny and herbal. There's some lightly toasted grain and a bit of caramel sweetness there, as well.

Taste is also citrusy and herbal. Lots of grapefruit in this one, and some bitter grapefruit pith, as well. Hops have a spicy element to them, as well, which goes nicely with some toasty and biscuity malt. Bitterness is modest compared to some IPAs, and overall I'd say this is nicely balanced.

Mouthfeel is meidum bodied and quite dry in the finish. Has a nice oily slickness to it and it's pretty creamy. Carbonation is maybe a wee bit aggressive.

I love grapefruity IPAs so this one hits the spot for me. A really nicely balanced IPA with good flavor and excellent drinkability. I think I'm going to pick up some more of this pronto.

Had this one on tap first at the Sunset Grill (5oz sampler) then a full pint at Cambridge Common.

menu states 69 IBUs, hops: Nugget, Simcoe, Crystal, Amarillo.

Appearance: a very clear, light amber. Thin, sticky, lacy head trails above the beer.

Smell: hops! complex - I could not pick out one in particular but knew there were several different domestic hops working together here.

Taste: crisp, flavorful. Good hop bitterness up front followed by a light malty/hop balance, then back to the hop combo that I smelled. Very nice.

Mouthfeel: good balance of bitterness, light but not thin, considerable carbonation. Quite refreshing.

Drinkability: I would have no problem committing to this particular brew for a good session. This is a well built beer and a damn solid IPA, not quite like any other I can immediately think of.

When I first tried this IPA it was up against 3 other local IPAs and completely blew them away. I wanted to wait to have a full pint on its own before reviewing.

Hopefully that bottling machine will be up and running soon!

A: Pours a nice vibrant orange hue with a tall off white foamy head. Very very good retention and lots of lace. Pretty pour.

S: Lots of nice sweet malts. Caramel and toffee lead the way. Notes of resinous pine, and mild citric notes as well.

T: Solid nice balance here. Floral up front with all the sweet candy malts coming out. Floral mostly but there is some pine and a bit of citrus. Tasty and balanced.

M: Medium in body, smooth, nice carbonation nice balance between hops and malts.

D; Very good, I like this one, solid.... very drinkable.

On cask at the Moan and Dove, Amherst, MA... delivered in my Mug Club mug.

A: Pours a burnt orange/amberish hue (lovely to look at in the late afternoon sun that poured through the open front door), accompanied by a two-finger cream-colored head that is alive with small to medium carbonation bubbles. These bubbles dissipate quickly, leaving an intricate lacing design. Decent retention overall.

S: A distinct citrus-floral mix. The citrus notes are rather bitter, like grapefruit, and the floral expressions are like summer wildflowers and freshly mowed grass. Big hop profile, with only traces of the malt in there. The warmer temp is accentuating the hop profile big time.

T: Clean, balanced, mellow. A bigger hop-bitterness occurs up front, but it's supplemented by a malt body that balances out the taste incredibly well. A much more floral IPA than a citrus one.

M: Smooth as can be, with a nice bittering residue/bouquet on the back of the palate. Minimal carbonation of course.

D: It's totally a delight at 7% and the cask-conditioning retains this beer's floral hop characters, making it even more drinkable.

(12oz bottle courtesy of plondrigan!). Pours copper with off-white head that quickly disappears. Nice carbonation. Aroma has some dank hops, but also some bright grapefruit and mango. Taste is semi-sweet and bitterness. Nicely balanced. Thin bodied with slick/oily texture. Finish is pleasantly bitter, but the malts are still there. Nice IPA.
