A - The body is deep amber with an off-white wispy head that is patchy and thin. The head is sticky and the lacing and legs are prominent. The appearance of this beer is appealing
S - Excellent. Light floral and earthy aromas.
T - Citrusy malt taste and background hops.
M - Good dense carbonation in the mouth.
O - This is a very good Spring Hop Ale.

12oz bottle. Pours a clear copper color with a thin layer of head. Some lacing. The aroma is a mix of sweet floral and citrus hops. Some malts and dark fruit notes as well. The taste is floral hops upfront followed by some caramel and citrus. More malts and dark fruits near the end with a floral hop finish. Fair amount of bitterness. Not much of an alcohol presence. Light bodied. I'm happy to see a seasonal beer for the warmer months that's an Amber. Overall, a good hoppy Amber I'd grab again.

Appearance: Pours a clear amber color with three inch cap of foam; excellent retention and a curtain of lacing is left behind

Smell: Caramel, tea and tobacco, with hints of pine

Taste: The malt has an earthy aspect, with bready and caramel tones adding complexity; in the mid-palate, the hops take over, bringing piney bitterness that is supplemented by tea and tobacco; nicely balanced, into the finish, with a lingering bitter tone

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: There is a lot going on in this beer that doesn't necessarily come through on the first few sips; while this is not my favorite style, this is quite a good beer

Thanks, mj0126, for the opportunity

My first Mayflower brew, an in-state brand I had overlooked out of ignorance. Attracted by the name and by the fact I had read somewhere it is a good brewery.

Bottled on Feb. 16(?) 2014. Hard to read the numbers printed over text on the label. Self-served at 48 degrees.

Poured from the 12 oz. bottle into a Tree House snifter.

a: Clear copper with an inch tall white head which receded to considerable surface foam and dense lacing.

s: Bready malt

t: Mild biscuity malt under a moderate hop bite. Some dark fruit notes appear later.

m: Light to moderate, good body.

o: A pretty good dinner drink, just not an awful lot of flavor, especially at first, leaving the hop bite prominent. Looks like it will be full of flavor, but comes up a bit short.
