I really like this beer a lot but is just a shade thin for me. Nose is awesome with Woodford barrel shining through and coffee accent! With a little more feel which probably would come out with a jump in abv.....great job Rivertowne!

Smell is definitely vanilla. There is a pretty decent head on this beer. Taste does not present as much bourbon as one would expect. Overall a decent BBA stout. For less than $2.50 a can you cannot go wrong.

12oz can poured into a tulip. Pours almost black with a creamy khaki head that fades leaving great retention and nice sticky lacing. The aromas are full of chocolate fudge. The bourbon notes are there, but subtle. The flavors follow the nose. Huge chocolate notes along with some caramel. The malts really shine. The bourbon is subtle once again, but does a nice job of highlighting the chocolate notes. There's possibly some rye in the mix, especially in the finish. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is nice. It's on the lighter side of full-bodied with moderate carbonation. It's very creamy and fluffy without being super thick. Smooth stuff.
This is a nice brew. It might not match up with the elite bourbon barrel stouts, but I don't believe it was intended to. It's still an enjoyable brew and is well crafted. I like it, especially at the price point. This is also the first time having a canned barrel aged brew, which I appreciate.

Doesn't look very...stouty. For lack of a better term. Seems to be a good bit of vanilla on here. Boozy as well, in the right ways. It's an okay beer, but it carries too many of the characteristics in bourbon barrel aged beers that you don't want to see: overly sweet, no balance, etc. A nice enough beer. But there are so many out there these days.

Craziest find on this at a random Italian restaurant in Monroeville (where this stuff is brewed) discounted to 7 DOLLARS a bottle from 17.99. Made my trip their worth it!
A - About as dark as the regular anniversary stout with less carbonation I got a mild ring of mocha that just faded to almost nothing. So far not so pretty especially with tons of floaties in the glass.
S - INTENSE bourbon reminds me of BCBS but can't really smell the roast or chocolate of the base beer just bourbon, wood, and mild vanilla.
T - A bit of stingy heat from the bourbon then quickly to the sweet base of coffee roasts and some dark chocolate. A touch of bitter wood and it is somewhat sweet. Can't really say I love it though.
M - Medium bodied and stick it still has enough carbonation to make it enjoyable.
Overall it takes a real master to get bourbon barrel aging right and these guys did an OK job. The ABV is a bit low for such an intense bourbon base so some may enjoy that. I don't think I really would have paid over 10 bucks for the experience though...
