The beer poured a golden-yellow, pretty clear and a thin white head that dissipated almost completely. Grassy aroma, light, with a touch of peppery spice, and a little bit of lemon (quite possibly from the wedge that was stuck on the rim of the glass). Malty in the taste, grassy, flowery, light touches of citrus and spice, typical of the style. Kind of bland and bitter in the finish. It was pretty light and tasty, fairly drinkable, I thought it was one of the better beers on tap.

Decent Belgian, nothing remarkable. Had this at the hotel bar after Rachel's wedding (June 11, 2016)

Surprisingly sweet, but not overly so. Mild flavor of grass . Not getting citrus & coriander some others have mentioned . Overall, just a very lightly flavored, extra cloudy whit

A classic witbier, hazy orange color with a slightly off-white head. Some funky aromas to go with the orange notes, this is Sam Adams Summer Ale on the nose, and that carries over to the taste as well. A nice witbier, IMHO.

Cloudy pale gold with a decent head that doesn't stay long and leaves minimal lacing. Smells of lemon, banana, clove, yeast and coriander. Tastes musty. Has some orange, coriander, lemon, clove and yeast in the taste with a spiciness that is slightly out of balance with the minimal grain sweetness. There is a weird lingering sweetness after the swallow that also has an odd bitterness. The feel is medium light and there is a lot of carbonation.

First had: on tap at Piper's Pub, Pittsburgh, PA

Poured into a Guinness pint, not too impressive appearance, golden-yellow, pretty clear--I like to see at least a little haze in a wheat beer--and a small fizzy white head that dissipated almost completely. Grassy aroma, light, with a touch of peppery spice, and a little bit of lemon (quite possibly from the wedge that was stuck on the rim of the glass). Biscuity malts in the taste, grassy, flowery, light touches of citrus and spice, typical of the style. Kind of bland and bitter in the finish. It was pretty light and tasty, fairly drinkable, but I wasn't crazy about it, and I'm glad it was the wife's beer and not mine. heh

What can I say, not a witbier fan. If you are, try this one.

Grateful White
Rivertowne Pourhouse
Style: Witbier
ABV: 6.10 %

LOOK: Straw yellow with a moderate haze. Small foam cap forms and leaves a bit of lace. Some carbonation bubbles rising to the top, this looks like a standard witbier.

SMELL: Wheat, lemon and floral hop aromas are predominant. A bit sweet smelling but overall, on par for style.

TASTE: Tangy wheat malt base, clove, a touch of lemony citrus, very mild bitterness and small earthy hops. For a stronger wit (6.1% ABV) there is little hint of it in the flavor. Just musty wheat, citrus, hay and grass.

FEEL: Medium to full bodied, leaning towards the fuller bodied range. Drinks a bit slow, but it was a 22oz draft. Holds flavor and carbonation well.

OVERALL: A serviceable wit with a sizable strength. Good flavor profile, and solid all the way through. Would pair nicely with a medium or extra spicy curry. A worthy wheat beer from Pittsburgh.
