A: Poured from the growler into a Duvel tulip. Body is dark yellow with a small whitish head.

S: Modest citrus - oranges and grapefruit - over light malt. Some herbal, leafy hops as well.

T: Light biscuity malt foundation, then lemony, grapefruity citrus. Slight spicy bite at the finish. Quite tasty. When I saw this was 7.4% ABV, I figured it was really more of an IPA, but the taste profile is definitely APA. A strong APA, definitely, but an APA nonetheless.

M: Good creaminess, call it medium in heft. Slightly slick.

O: Really solid APA.

On tap at the brewery.
This was poured into a nonic pint glass.
The appearance was a nice looking dark yellow paper color with a finger's worth of white foamy head that slid off gently. Some lace slid into a nice spider web looking fashion.
The aroma had some sharp citrus rind and peel flowing gently into each other with a fairly bold piney-ness. Delicate cracker malt slid in underneath.
The flavor leaned bitter initially and developed some sweetness as it warmed. That was nice with the hops to the malts ratio. Mild aftertaste of citrusy hops and the malt.
The mouthfeel was almost medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt good, fairly low. ABV felt as projected. Mild finish of the citrusy hops.
Overall, pretty nice as a hoppy APA. It does seem a bit 'big' for the style in it's ABV, but since it still allowed some crushability about it. I didn't mind the big ABV.

This is definitely NOT a pale ale. It's at least an IPA, perhaps verging on double IPA at 7.4% abv and intense hopping.

Pours a slightly hazy and light copper with a thin white head that leaves lacing down the glass.

Smell is a burst of fruity hops: citrus and strong mango aroma.

Taste: Light malty sweetness throughout serves as a cushion for intense fruity hopping. Light citrus: grapefruit, passion fruit followed up with strong tropical punch notes. Finishes with a lingering, dry bitterness. This is all about the hops. A tiny bit of alcohol heat at the finish, but balances the hops well.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with crisp carbonation. Slight astringency.

Overall: This is amazingly drinkable and dominated with hop flavor and aroma. Definitely NOT a pale ale, but something I'd go back to as a standard west coast IPA/DIPA.

On-tap at Albany Pump Station, Albany, NY

A: The beer is hazy yellow in color and has some amber hues when viewed from a distance. No carbonation is visible. It poured with a short off white head that died down and left some lacing on the surface and down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of citrusy hops are present in the nose—tangerines seem to stand out in particular.
T: Like the smell, the taste is quite citrusy and has lots of tangerine flavors along with some hints of herbal hops. A light amount of bitterness is present.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This APA definitely smells and tastes like the recipe kicked up the hops by a few notches. Despite all of the citrusy aromas and flavors, it's not that bitter and rather easy to drink.
