A: Poured from the growler into a Duvel tulip. Body is dark yellow with a small whitish head.

S: Modest citrus - oranges and grapefruit - over light malt. Some herbal, leafy hops as well.

T: Light biscuity malt foundation, then lemony, grapefruity citrus. Slight spicy bite at the finish. Quite tasty. When I saw this was 7.4% ABV, I figured it was really more of an IPA, but the taste profile is definitely APA. A strong APA, definitely, but an APA nonetheless.

M: Good creaminess, call it medium in heft. Slightly slick.

O: Really solid APA.

This is definitely NOT a pale ale. It's at least an IPA, perhaps verging on double IPA at 7.4% abv and intense hopping.

Pours a slightly hazy and light copper with a thin white head that leaves lacing down the glass.

Smell is a burst of fruity hops: citrus and strong mango aroma.

Taste: Light malty sweetness throughout serves as a cushion for intense fruity hopping. Light citrus: grapefruit, passion fruit followed up with strong tropical punch notes. Finishes with a lingering, dry bitterness. This is all about the hops. A tiny bit of alcohol heat at the finish, but balances the hops well.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with crisp carbonation. Slight astringency.

Overall: This is amazingly drinkable and dominated with hop flavor and aroma. Definitely NOT a pale ale, but something I'd go back to as a standard west coast IPA/DIPA.

On-tap at Albany Pump Station, Albany, NY

A: The beer is hazy yellow in color and has some amber hues when viewed from a distance. No carbonation is visible. It poured with a short off white head that died down and left some lacing on the surface and down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of citrusy hops are present in the nose—tangerines seem to stand out in particular.
T: Like the smell, the taste is quite citrusy and has lots of tangerine flavors along with some hints of herbal hops. A light amount of bitterness is present.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This APA definitely smells and tastes like the recipe kicked up the hops by a few notches. Despite all of the citrusy aromas and flavors, it's not that bitter and rather easy to drink.
