Appearance: clear copper in color with a 2" head that slowly fades away to a thick surface foam. Nice lacing develops.
Smell: caramel and fruit sweetness is very mild.
Taste: flavors are much more upfront than what the nose picked up. Bold caramel and black plum sweetness with decent bitterness levels. Simple but flavorful.
Mouthfeel: lightly crisp at the start and finish with a short sweet aftertaste. Medium bodied.
Drinkability: super session ale. This is one that accompanied great conversation in a bar and the pints could just keep flowing all night.

I am trying this beer off the tapper at the brewery as part of the "Classic" four sample flight. It poured a hazy copper with white head that is leaving some lace. The scent had nice bittering hop notes with subtle citrus highlights. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with crisp hop presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a great beer.

I'm drinking this beer tonight. This beer was the first I'd ever seen sold in growlers in the early 90s. And tasted more like draft beer than anything I'd bought from a store. A 12er from the brewery into a mug. No not all 12! We're gonna need a bigger mug!
But still similar to the taste I remember.

From notes 10/31/11: Pours the color of unfiltered amber stained apple juice with a 2 inch off-white head that lingers leaving nice lacing. Aroma and taste are toasted and fruity with citrus, sweet malts and floral hops; a dry and bitter, mild pepper finish due to the excellent carbonation.
