September 2011 bottle served in a tulip glass.

Appearance: like always, beautiful artwork on the bottle, a significant amount of dust on the bottle. I went to release the cage and the bottle exploded open from the excess carbonation. The beer is extremely carbonated and poured out a very thin and murky brown with orange tint throughout. The head is massive with a murky khaki color.

Nose: funk for bays, bitter orange peel, citrus pith, barnyard funk, earthy and organic. Smells very much alive.

Taste: follows the nose but with even more funk funk and funk. Very thin mouthfeel and prickly carbonation to start but it moves into a soft and creamy carbonation when you get halfway through the bottle. Lactic acid is very soft and nice. There is a great tart quality to this beer that is classic to all Saint Somewhere beers. Lemony, citrus, hints of malt in there as well. It has an astringent and bitter finish (maybe from bitter orange peel or Curaçao??)

Overall: The fact that the bottle blew up on me is certainly a detractor however the beer that lepth forth was delicious and very complex. I continue to be impressed with Saint Somewhere, this being the 4th beer from them that I've tried. This is a great hybrid of a classic Belgian Dubbel and a funky Saison.

Well done. Nice funky aroma on the initial sniff. Then followed by a sour and sweet fruity taste with a bubbly finish. Strong head retention with a light brown and very appealing color. I would buy this again.

L: It pours a dark, hazy amber crowned by a 1” cream colored head that hisses as it recedes.
S: Releases aromas of fruit, spice, wine, and mustiness.
T: Light malt is in the background to lemony tartness, fruit, spice and herbs. Some white wine notes.
F: Medium light body and highly carbonated.
O: A funky well crafted saison that is perfect for a hot summer day.

This one was cocked and loaded! When I opened it the cork almost went through my wall. After an exciting start the beer really didn't do much for me. The fireworks, head, and scents had me really expecting more than the beer delivered.

From a large, corked bottle (pop!), it has a fizzy, short-lived head. The aroma is of spice, mixed with yeast and a fruity zest. Some alcohol in there as well....and rich dark malt. The taste has a notable funk, which is interesting. I like it. Very Belgian. Spicy on the tongue and a little more sweet than expected. The fruit characteristic comes out notably in the taste. Medium in body.

750ml bottle poured into a tulip
A: Rich mahogany color with a 1+ finger head that settles very slowly
S: Caramel, cherry, green apple, brown sugar, generic herbs/spices. Actually surprisingly complex
T: Also a bit of cherry/apple/brown sugar though not as complex as the aromas and there's a strong yeast note that overshadows everything else
M: Medium-bodied, a bit sweet
O: A decent beer though not one I'd seek out again- one of those beers where the appearance/aromas are fantastic but then tasting it is a slight letdown given the intro. Still worth a try
