Pours bright and clear, a golden yellow with a good-sized white head this dissipates to a thick film. Some fine bubbles cling to the glass just short of the head and hold like a still life version of the waterfall before evaporating like a fog.

Smell is rich and malty with strong notes of citrus, grape and green apple blended together. Hops is present weakly, a supporting player. Nicely balanced and well presented.

Taste is malty and sour with a grape note prominent. Not as balanced as the nose, however.

Light to medium body with a medium effervescence. Finishes cleaner than expected and with a hint of dryness and vinegar acidity. Overall a fine beer.

On-tap at several places, including the CCB tap room. Tonight I am having it at Mr. Dunderbak's.

A - It pours a fairly radiant golden hue, translucent, and is capped with a bit of frothy white head. The froth sticks around for a bit.

S - This is, to me, a very straightforward take on the Saison. It is of the realm of Saison DuPont, whereas SS's other Saisons are a little more experimental in nature. There is a good amount of Saison sweatiness and earthy mustiness, along with crisp Pale-Pils maltiness and some continental hop to round it out.

T - Most of my sentiments are expressed within the 'smell' section of this review. About all I'll add is that it has a bit of a rustic character, and some flavors in the vein of sharp cheese.

M - This is better than most other on-tap SS offerings, in terms of feel. Usually they are over-carbed to the point of foamy oblivion (designed for bottle conditioning), but this one is quite nice.

D - The brew is good, but definitely not great. Still, I'd surely pick up a few bottles of this, were it to be released in such a format.

I was surprised at how good this one was. Poured from a corked and caged bottle into a pint glass, it showed a hazy straw gold color and a small bubbly white head that fades very fast. Little or no lacing. Aroma and flavor are very good. Grape must, yeast and a solid light malty base. The Saison "funk" and mustiness are there, as good as many Belgian imports. This is one tasty Saison, a little subdued, but all the elements in place. Mouthfeel is just right, musty and tart, rich enough for the style. I would drink this one again.

Cloudy yellow with a nice smooth head. Very in your face saison. Hits you with immediate tart grapefruit and bitter hops. Feels great in the mouth, with light fizzy carbonation that tickles the tongue. Very clean aftertaste.
