It pours dark amber that borders a little bit on bright brown. Huge head with very nice lacing left behind. The aroma is fairly sweet from the malts. The taste has a string malty base but with a lingering bitterness. Medium body.

On tap at Rex 1516 in Philadelphia. Served in pint glass with small head. As others have noted, dark color and slightly fruity smell. Taste was very smooth and nice lacing on the glass. I enjoyed.

Darker somewhat hazy looking IPA. I'm getting tropical fruit and slight malt from the nose (fairly inviting). Oh no, not really any translation from the nose to the palate. This beer has a caramelized malt flavor to it with the ever so slight citrus and pine on the end. Watery taste with low carbonation. This is the second beer I've had from this brewer that wasn't very good.

On cask tap at South Philly Tap Room. Served in a pint glass

L - hazy brown - amber color. Fluffy foam on top, sticking to the glass.

S - Pine tree forest. Little bit of grapefruit. Scent mostly of grapefruit with pine as the strong character

T - grapefruit dominant. Citrus but bitter on the back end. Pine is also there.

F - little to no carbonation. Watery feel, typical of cask ales.

Heavy bread on the nose along with medium hop presence. Well balanced in taste with a slight after-taste on the palette. Some sediment present. Bottled from grocer in King of Prussia.

Found this beer lolling round in the door of my fridge. Suspect it was placed there by my roommate; thanks/sorry bud! I'll make it up to you.

Neat iPA but forgettable. Nice piney bits and a funny bubblegum aftertaste. Nothing remarkable about the color, though strange floating particles can me noticed. Faint whiff of alchohol.

I just picked up a case of Newbold IPA from my local distributor in Thorndale, PA. My selection was predicated on a couple of factors. I had picked up a case or two of this brew previously, before I moved out here from Philly. At that point in time I'm pretty certain that Newbold was 6.0 abv. In any event, that was what I expected. I also remember that it was an o.k. but not great brew. I selected this case because my local spot is priced on the high side, the brew was acceptable, and I know that Phila Brewing is priced in the lower craft beer range. Having said that, I just popped one after a round of golf and I am now happy at happy hour. This is not the best IPA (I like Avery, Firestone Union Jack, and various of the long line of Victory IPAs.) but much better than I remember. The abv is now 7.0, (so, express train to the land) and the taste is a nice, sharp, hoppy one. The head was moderate from a bottle poured into a chilled 22 oz. mug, roughly two fingers. The color is a pleasant, medium amber. The slightest generic fruit overtone, not much really. This, at least in the local Philly area, is a good value.
