Hazy deep gold....big pour-head drops quickly to a film.
Dominant smell is dough, with some lemony banana.
Taste is light...sweet , very wheaty ...fresh dough...lemon...hint of clove...yeasty...banana comes in late... grapes too. Fairly clean finish.
Mouthfeel is a little light...carbonation is medium to high.
Fairly drinkable...an OK hefe.

typical medium sized German bottle, has some info notched on the label but it made no sense to me... pours cloudy, dark apple sauce, with a quickly departing loose bubble head. Not much lacing to get excited about. Typical fruity/yeasty weizen nose. Low carbonation, muddy notes of ripe bananas, some yeasty must, not the most exciting german weizen. Sort of dull in the midsection and saggy in the finish. Better wheats abound.

Presentation: 1 Pint 0,9 fl.oz. (500ml) tall, thin, slender brown glass bottle which seems so ubiquitous in Germany. Standard “Aktien-Brauerei” label with the word “Weizen” in blue below a small country landscape.

Appearance: Dark golden body, the unfiltered appearance has a honey like consistency to it. Poured with a fast fading white head which sadly disappears far too quickly. The conditioning seems low, without a freshness date on the bottle it is hard to tell if this is simply an aged bottle or just de rigueur for the offering

Nose: Honey malts, grain, barley malts and a sweetness. This is a soft Weizen with a gentle strength aroma.

Taste: Very much a reflection of the nose, but the aroma-flavors are supported by some fresh bread and yeasts. Banana and a low profile clove are subdued at times. The balance is not too good; it seems too heavy in the yeasty department with little input from the fruity aspects. Finishes with disappointing short dry ending.

Mouthfeel: Suffers from no head, low carbonation throughout and a rather staid profile which feels unbalanced. I managed the half litre bottle, but it took some doing. Low on life.

Drinkability: This is a rather average offering, it feels a little heavy on the yeasts and this detracts along with the low carbonation.

Overall: Another reasonably nice offering from the ancient Aktien-Brauerei. I am a fan of several of their bottled brews and the fresh Hells on draft, but sadly this bottled Weizen seems to lack a little something for me.

Dark cloudy yellow. Drinkable, but rather sour wheat. Cloves didn't work for me. Didn't like the carbonation. One of the least liked German made beers I have had in recent memory. Expecting more creamy taste, more fruit. Medium mouthfeel.Drying finish.

Paid 2.59 at hollingsead. Definitely a very weak hefeweizen with little to no clove and banana aroma. I'm not sure what the wheat ratio is on this beer but it has to be less than fifty percent. At least this beer adheres to the Reinheitsgebot law of 1516.

A cloudy yellow gold body teems with streams of very fine bubbles that race towards the surface adding to it's creamy, bright white head; and helping to maintain it throughout the entire glass. Unfortunately, however, it leaves very little lace. The nose expresses a rich, grainy combination of wheat and barley. The body is medium; and the very fine and effervescent carbonation tingles the tongue before warming to become just lightly creamy. The flavor delivers the sweetish, bready malt that the nose promises threaded with banana and a delicate note of clove; and it finishes dry with a light touch of spice and some residual sweet malt that beckons you to take another sip. Exceptionally well balanced and delightfully drinkable and refreshing with a good deal of grainy/bready malt and a yeast profile that doesn't knock you upside the head with banana.

This was not one of my favorite Weizen beers. It did not have much of a head, which is nice in a tradtional German Hefeweizen. Smell was OK, clove and banna like esters. This brew died down significantly after the first few sips,as the flavors dimished and it became an OK beer. That crisp tartness that usually accompanies this style was lacking and/or not present at all. No huge off flavors, just not one that I would choose again given the amazing Weizens beers available.
