I get these bottled from the Publix. I won't underwhelm with my vocabulary; I like ambers in general, and this one is just fine.

Monk in the Trunk has a thin, white head, a semi-clear, amber appearance, and some rather forceful bubbles. No lacing is noticed. Aroma is rich- light caramel, horse blanket, and barley juice. Taste is odd- candy sugar, horse blanket, wet hay, plums, tea, and no bitterness, with maybe a chalky undertaste. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Monk in the Trunk finishes dry and weird.

Bottle. Pours golden brown with cream colored head, very clear. Light banana and clove nose. Not very spicy, easy drinking, Belgian inspired but not Belgian.

This bottle had gone off.
But the fault was mine because I left it for a year at a friend's house in Florida.
So, I can't pan it.
But, I also cannot praise it.
Lesson: don't forget about beer !
