Hop Donkey Imperial Red Ale has a deep red hue thanks to highly kilned crystal and roasted chocolate malts. Intense hop flavors and aromas from a concoction of Northwest “C” hops with a touch of Amarillo. Hop Donkey’s 85 IBU’s are balanced by a smooth caramel malt character that keeps you braying for more.

Pours a deep copper/red color. Mostly clear, quite carbonated. Tan head with solid retention and lacing. The aroma is caramel malt with nutty and herbal notes. The flavor is malty up front, and then the big hops kick (like a donkey) is in the finish. Well balanced, and quite delicious.

Handsome coppery amber color with ample foam in the wine glass. Sudsy nouthfeel. Rich and tangy. Warm malt taste but rather acidic.
A pleasant spicy hop flavor and moderate bitterness. Some papaya flavor. Lots of aromatics makes this an interesting strong brew. Just a little alcohol flavor. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Healthy Spirits in San Francisco.

Imperial reds are hard to get right. Balancing hops and malt to create a delicious beer that is rich in hops but rounded out beautifully, Auburn Alehouse has succeeded where many have failed.

Pours one finger of clear dark straw colored body.
The aroma is all pine. It's good but single minded.
The taste is an excellent marriage of sweet malt and pine/lemon bitterness.
The texture is thicker with a crispness and with moderate carbonation.
It's bold and nice.
