Poured from 22 oz bottle into wine glass

A- nice hazy straw colored beer with clumpy, rocky head.

S- Spicy clove with banana and pineapple aromatics with a yeasty bready undertone

T- very sweet with a lot of spice, finishing with a juicy fruit kiss. It literally made my mouth water just drinking it it was so juicy

M - thick and luxurious

D- high alcohol, and the sweetness that got to be cloying at the end is the limitation of the beer imo

22oz bomber from Enoteca Italiana poured into a tulip glass. Golden orange color, small head. Spice (clove) upfront in the aroma, as well as sweet fruit and candy. The taste didn't quite live up to the aroma, but was still very good. Peppery and fruity. Nice crisp mouthfeel, fun beer to drink.

received in a beer trade....hard to tell if this beer was aged or not, cannot find a label indicating its age....

poured into a snifter has nice pillowy white head of uneven is slightly cloudy & murky....nice aroma of straw and hay and yeast....

taste is sublime....earthy tangy and spicey without being overbearing....

mouthfeel is excellent...fine carbonation it really pops out at you iand has a lot of zing on the tongue i like this feel a lot

overall i think this is a great beer i would definitely try it again

This was one of the beers available in bottles at the Hop Devil/Belgian room. for the STHMPTN night awhile back and this review is from my notes. Large Belgian style bomber, caged and corked, 2006 dated bottle. Pours light yellowy amber, with moderate carbonation and lifting a light and lively near white head. Head disolves to a film and leaves fine and intricate lacing with each sip. Nose here is of Belgian yeasties, and some crisp spicing. Warming and pheolic brew, notes of peppery spice, honey, and alcohol with a snappy hoppy, dry finish. NIce Southampton take on the classic Belgian style. Just short of the usual Home run from this brewer, but still a worthy creation and worth seeking out bottle.

Bottle thanks to kmweaver. Golden color with white head and decent retention. Aroma is pretty nice, filled with lemon, various spices, clove, and coriander. I get most of the same notes in the taste; very flavorful. Light body and high in carbonation. I guess I'm in the minority for really liking this. I'd definitely enjoy having this again.

L: Pours golden with a very slight haze under a thin, white foam collar that has some cling. S: fruit, apricot, yeast driven, grain, sugar T: Fruit first then segues into caramel, faint alcohol burn on the end, sweet in the middle. There is some orange, apricot, and a faint touch of honey with a long lingering honey aftertaste. There are just enough hops to give it some structure and balance. F: Fine soft carbonation, medium carbonation, medium body O: A triple with some character.

Southampton Triple - Southampton, NY

Appears a honey golden crystal clear very filtered appearance with a bright white foaming head. Aroma is sweet with syrup loaded sugar tones spicy balanced herbal and tropical fruit notes creamy finish with a touch of alcohol. Flavor has a honey coated sweet Belgian candi sugar with herbal mild hops focusing toward the malt profile full of troical and passion with a touch of citrus fruits mild pear with white grapes and a spiced up yeast finish. Mouthfeel is a bit sticky and not well attenuated compared to authentic Belgian tripels some residual sugars are left over bringing some off qualities for me spritzy carbonation really tickled the palate. Drinkability is decent not as great as past reviews when this brew was pub only, contracting has it's downfalls and this brewery really paints that portrait well. Bottles are done in upstate NY, not sure about the kegs, and caged bottles are down at Sly Fox Royersford with Phil Markowski on hand. So far the best beers I've had from them were the Abbey 12 and the Grand Cru.

Pours a cloudy golden amber with a small white head that disappears quickly. The smell has lemon,wheat,bread yeast,and bannana. The taste is crisp and refreshing with lemon,clove,banana,bread yeast and some wheat. A very nice tasting beer that hides the alcohol well. The m/f is light/medium with all the flavors mixing very well. This is a very good tasting beer that hides the alcohol and delivers a blast of flavor.

Bomber into a snifter. Purchased for around $5.

Appearance: I'm always confused how long I've had the glass on the shelf, how it was washed before, if I should wash it again, etc., especially with my better glasses. So that may be one of the reasons why there's not a tripel-like head on the brew. And there's also not a lot of carbonation seeming to make itself known. The hazy golden yellow color, however, is beautiful, and is saving this. Maybe the snifter was the bad choice, who knows.

Smell: Bring the funk, ya'll, because that's much of what we have here. I was hoping for more banana and cream and candi sugar and all the like, especially since I really dig the D-white from Southampton. Alas, the funk takes over, but not in that medicinal and earthy nature of the gods, though still not unpleasant. But it's overshadowing much of the potential. I even washed out the glass thoroughly, and that didn't help.

Taste: Ah, finally, we get some good things, especially with the finish, where much of the yeast and phenolic activity are able to come to the forefront. While tasting there's some subdued banana and vanilla, mild candi sugar (which is good for not making it overly sweet, though I wonder if making it sweeter could've helped), mild citrus zest, and mild hops. I'm certainly glad the taste outweighs the other components, though that won't save the brew overall.

Mouthfeel: A little thicker than I want it to be coupled with possibly the carbonation that needs to be boosted a bit. But it doesn't take away; it just could improve it, I think.

Drinkability: I have to say, I'm disappointed with this overall. The price is there. The brewery is there. The brew, however, is not. A nice try, though, and a decent experience. But I'll be sticking to the Double White.

A very tasty though sweetish Belgian. Carbonation, initially, and then as warms is flattish. Malt and yeast give it a sugary fruitiness. Orange, yet the taste of date and fig. Very drinkable and great with fish. Above average mouthfeel. Definately the American take.

Appearance (in tulip out of a 750mL) is cloudy amber with fine white head.

Nose is mellow orange and yeast. Pleasant, suggesting a full-bodied taste.

Taste has a striking note of sweet alcohol which is balanced by carbonation and some faint hop bitterness. Faint traces of apple linger, but the taste doesn't quite live up to the nose.

Mouthfeel is pleasant, but faintly prickly-- nothing exceptional.

Overall nice, but not outstanding for the style.

22oz bomber, purchased at a whole foods somewhere in the NORVA region and consumed back in charlotte. always enjoy some southampton

appearance: served in an OMB glass, hazy orange body with a fluffy beige cap...rather dull body

smell: fair amount of fruit sweetness - apple, pear, pineapple, corriander, clove

taste: a good but not great tripel - sweet pear and apple are in the forefront - sharp clove, white pepper and other spice are provided. the downfalls are the overly sweet finish and lacking that yeast zip that i like in a tripel

mouthfeel: a little sweeter and with a slightly heavier body than the flagships

drinkability: fine

Served in a goblet. Overall, this tripel is good, but unremarkable. As far as the standard for the style goes, the bar is pretty high, these are delicious beers we're talking about here. But the malt is plain, with just a bit a caramel. The spice is too light, mostly just a corriander undercurrent. And while the little bit of hops at the end adds a nice touch, this all doesn't add up to an amazing beer. That said, this is a pretty good beer. I'd call it on par with Weyerbacher's Merry Monks.

On tap at Zeno’s Pub - State College, PA - Oct 14, 2007. Light hibiscus and orange spritz aroma, laid down in a bed of wet grain. Pours a strikingly clear pale gold, topped with a minimal white head. Flavor is a dense, sugar imbued sweep. There’s some hexaneous lemon, lots of bright, glowing yeast phenolics, over gentle pear, sweet apple and melon. A nip of warmth and glow of the yeast products, in a minerally husk. Backend gushes out with a chewy, hop gum and spritz of lemon zest. Nicely dry and comparatively clean finish. Missing some depth and carbonation. Could use more forceful, bright percolation. Overall, decent, but not excelling.

Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a below average head and head retention for a tripel, zero lacing. The smell on the other hand is much better. Sweet tropical fruit smell, candi sugar, honey, good tripel aroma. I would categorize the taste as a tripel light, almost a Beligan Pale Ale or Blonde. This is not necessarily negative. This tripel tastes like most American tripels but doesn't have that over your head booziness. The taste is of tart apple skin, honey, candi sugar, hints of bananas. Very good taste but doesn't have that great Beligan tripel taste or complexity. Moderately bodied and carbonated and finishes rather balanced, maybe on the tart side. Besides the poor appearance, this is a sneaky good tripel, definitely gets better as it warms up a bit as the flavors come out.

Poured from the 22 oz bomber into a Duvel glass.

Pours a copper color, white foam, little lacing. Light sweet smell, some fruit. Malty taste, a little on the light side. Almost watery. Some candy sugar and spice buried. Some sour. Buried alcohol.

Light in the mouthfeel, loosely carbonated. Very drinkable and tasty. Clearly not a real Belgian, but a good imitation of the style.

8% Belgian style tripel.

A: Pours a hazy and cloudy bright golden-orange color with a moderately diminishing white creamy head with small peppery particulate matter dancing about.

S: There is very lively carbonation with yeasty aromatics of bubble gum and creamy bananas on the nose.

T: The beer starts off very spicy with a touch of alcohol warming. The mouthful is light and creamy and very lively from the carbonation. For flavor there are some nice esters and fruitiness of pears, oranges, and bananas. The finish is dry and spicy with warm bananas and dry orange grind on the tongue. The hopping is peppery and spicy with huge citrusy notes against a light Belgian malting backing. The beer is very clean flavor wise with good yeast attributes and a slight sourness but lacks the complexity and spicing of true Belgian beers.

M: lively from the carbonation, a bit rough texture wise more then expected, perhaps from the c02.

D: A good American interpretation and easy drink with a good flavor and overall rating.

Bottle courtesy of Bu11zeye: Poured a lightly hazy golden color ale with a large pure white foamy head with some good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of spicy yeast with some nice fruity ester and some medium sweet malt. Taste is a nice enough mix between some spicy yeast and fruity ester with some well balance medium sweet Belgian malt. Body is average for the style with some good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very refreshing and well crafted.

Pours a classic hazy deep yellow with orange hints and a 1/4 inch white head.
Aroma is heavy floral notes with citrus and white grape also predominant. Light grain and a hint fo vinegar ae present (maybe signifying waiting a bit too long to drink)
Flavor is vey complex. I've got a white wine with a pale malt base with some grain and yeast tossed in.
Mouthfeel is very champagne-like. "tight" effervescence and somewhat salty.
Drinkability is good. Vinous hits make it almost sickly sweet but a high qulaity and high class beer.

16.6 oz bottle poured into a tulip glass.

Pours an orange color with a thin white head that dissipates quickly with no lacing. Citrus, fruity yeast, banana and green apple aromas. Up front orange citrus flavor mixed with yeast followed by a banana middle that lingers into the finish where it is joined by a light malt flavor. Medium to light carbonation with a medium body, could be more carbonated to add some crispness. Kind of a one note beer, lacks the depth and balance of a good tripel.

2003 corked and caged 750ml bottle

Wonderfully clear, effervescent pale gold with a thin white head that retains beautifully and leaves lots of sticky lace. Impressive nose of white grapes, banana, cloves, vanilla, cotton candy, musty yeast, black pepper, and faint alcohol. Impressive balance in the aroma between the sweet fruit and spiciness, with a sturdy yeast backbone holding it all up.

The flavor expands upon that balance with a huge burst of fruit, with some tropical fruit hints thrown in for good measure, balanced by an assertive black pepper and clove phenolic spiciness. All of this is underpinned by a strong, musty yeast foundation and slightly herbal Styrian hop bitterness. Finishes with a hop flavor flourish and candi sugar sweetness, along with a smooth, cleansing shot of alcohol.

On the palate, it begins sharp and crisp, then turns soft and fluffy on the finish. The yeast dregs in the last quarter of the bottle only serve to enhance it’s creaminess.

A superb, domestic take on a Belgian-style tripel, this was my first (and incredibly anticipated) beer from Southampton Publick House. While a bit lighter in body than the indigenous ones, it should have no problem hanging with the classic, more well known examples of the style with some cellar time behind it.

hazy yellow colored amber with a very big white frothy head of foamy lace across the top. Very nice retention left behind copious amounts of side glass lace and a very nice little film
across the top.

A nice light wheat aroma could be detected as well and this blended in nicely with the yeast. It was a light aroma overall though not really making any kind of striking impression on me. light hints of peaches or pears, but nothing that was too terribly strong to be honest. No hint of the alcohol in here what so ever and it really had quite a light profile. Some light grassy flavors in and around the finish with a decent little bit of drying at the end.
