Poured into a Shiner Bock pint glass. No freshness date. I'm honored to be only the second person to review this.

A- Pours a light copper color with a 1/2 inch off-white head that retains well before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a light sheet of surface foam. Below-average lacing.

S- Nice hop nose with a good amount of malt sweetness to back it up. Somewhat citrusy and floral but stays on the earthy side just as well to maintain good balance.

T- The taste is more malt heavy, actually reminding me of something closer to a strong pale ale rather than an IPA. Slight metallic taste along with a lingering bitterness that's not all that pleasant. As the palate starts to even out the flavors, the drinkability goes up but the vibrancy remains neutral. Just not what one would expect from the delightful nose.

M- A bit dry and sharp. Medium carbonation and a body that leans more toward the full side of things.

O- Pretty good, but didn't meet my expectations which were quite high.

A: Poured from the bottle into a pint glass. Body is light in appearance - golden-amber in color with a small whitish head. Some random splotches of lace.

S: There's really no nose here - a touch of bready malt is it, but I've gotta stick half my face in the glass to even discern that.

T: First impression is more about the feel than the taste - there's a buttery slickness to it, perhaps diacetyl? Some sweet, toffee-like malt with an ever-so-faint bitterness - more floral hops with a touch of lemon - than anything - in the aftertaste. Tea-like in some ways.

M: As noted above, it's slick. Carbonation appears light (i.e., I see no bubbles until the glass is agitated), but I get a bit of creamy carbonation towards the back of the sip.

O: This is only OK by me. I've generally been pretty happy with Southampton's beers, but this one leaves me a little flat. I had a Middle Ages English IPA right before this one, and that one may have had an impact on how I viewed this one, as it was more American in style, and I liked it better.
