Looks beautiful, smells like a classic witbier, nice smooth notes of grain and bread. Lacking the spicy esters from my favorite wits like Allagash, Saint Bernardus, or Blanche de Chambly, but the coriander is present and pleasant, especially on the finish, lending to the sweetness. No trace or hint of the alcohol, so the added kick of the 6.6% abv is an all-stealth payload.

A - Pours a lightly hazy pale gold color with minimal head.

S - Orange peel, coriander, seeds of paradise, and citrus.

T - Yeast, herbal presence, peppery seeds of paradise, coriander.

M - Light medium body.

Purchased a six pack of 12 oz. bottles at Whole Foods and drank them over several days/nights out of a Spiegelau stemmed Pilsner glass. This was my first experience with anything from this brewery and, given the high ratings their beers tend to get and my love for Witbiers, I was a bit disappointed. On the darker side, with not much head and little smell. Not as much flavor, in my opinion, as my favorites in the category and I agree with one of the previous reviewers who found the mouthfeel on the harsher side. Would not purchase again to drink at home, but wouldn't mind one from time to time in a bar or restaurant. Prefer Allagash White, St. Bernardus Witbier, or Dogfish Head Namaste.

I had this on tap guardia. Yup. Color was a opaque golden color, not as light as i'd expect, usually these are a bit more pale in color. The taste was bready with orange on the back of the tongue, quite tasty. Aroma was all citrus, enticing. Mouthfeel was a little harsher than I would expect, but overall pretty damn good where it counts. I'll be back.

Appearance: Cloudy pale golden color with a white head

Smell: Clean and subtle aromas of coriander, banana, and doughy yeast

Taste: More coriander than i prefer, but banana and yeasty esters are still there

Mouthfeel: Light and crisp, but could be less bitter; Smoother

Overall: i rarely thoroughly enjoy a beer in this style, but this has to be one of the better American ones iv had. Its nothing special, but it is just a well made, amped up witbier. Good job on this one SouthHampton!

L: This slightly amped up version of a Belgian Wit pours cloudy gold with a thin white foam cap. S: Spicy orange wheat aromas. T: Bready wheat, orange peel, citrus and spice. F: Medium light to medium body, soft medium carbonation. O: A little maltier than a standard wit but very pleasant, refreshing and drinkable.

Pours a nice light golden color with small head. Appears to be quite cloudy, with a light fruity smell. Very little lacing and carbonation. Taste is surprisingly light an pleasant, with a little alcohol aftertaste. Would definitely buy again.

Date: July 5, 2015... Glassware: Schneider Edel Weisse large pokal... Occasion: July 4th lives on with USWNT in the finals vs. Japan--revenga! Appearance: an unfiltered, hazy, dark golden body allows bubbles to coalesce at the glass’s base; a healthy two-finger sudsy white head that thins out consistently; glass displays no lacing as the beer sipping continues.... Aroma: banana, bubblegum, and the predominance of damp, flowery esters... Palate: effervescent and deceptively thin for 6+ ABV; highly drinkable, with a lingering, textured finish.... Taste: lemongrass, honey, and coriander make for a zesty buzz; more banana rears up late; nice, spicy sizzle of peppercorn at the throat... Overall: a formidable, reasonably full-flavored white that asserts malt strength to balance the flowery aspects of the ale; a crisp, refreshing wheat that has enough weight to satisfy an appetite... Found this at Wine Country in H’town and figured I would relive our 4th at Jer’s five years ago, at least through beer...

a: Hazy yellow body. Thin, white one finger head that disappeared quickly. Some yeast sediment floating throughout.

Appearance: Hazy medium golden in color, with a small white head, which soon fades to a scattering of foam on the surface. Thin, fine-beaded lacing coats the glass walls. The carbonation is slight.

Aroma: Tart wheat dances with orange, lemon, and coriander, this last being rather prominent.

Taste: Coriander dominates the taste, perhaps to the point of detriment. Tart and spicy wheat offers substantial contributions, but is a mere accompaniment to the coriander. Later in the taste, spicy, mildly warming alcohol manifests itself, not surprising in light of the relatively high 6.7% ABV. Finishes, as it began, with pronounced coriander notes.

Mouth feel: Smooth, soft, quite pleasant, very full.

Drinkability/notes: A remarkable effort, quite drinkable. As before, the use of coriander was a bit heavy-handed, but this may be better suited to a hot August day, rather than a chilly, blustery, day in November.

Presentation: Packaged in a standard twelve-ounce brown glass long-neck bottle, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a Duvel tulip. Moderate hand. No identifiable date, but there was a series of numbers (and a letter "B") stamped on the base of the bottle.

A: Cloudy, golden yellow body. 1/2 finger of white head with below average retention. Light lacing.

S: Strong fruit notes - banana, white grape, pineapple, lemon. Vanilla. Coriander. Light floral hops. This is the beer's strong suit.

T: Fruit and spicy yeast up front. Lightly sweet wheat notes arrive before the hop bitterness gradually creeps in. Finishes semi-dry. Alcohol is fairly present for 6.6% ABV. Mild citrus zest bitterness lingers in the aftertaste.

M: Moderate to high carbonation with a moderate to light body. A bit prickly.

O: The nose got me excited, but I was a little let down with the taste. Despite being touted as "double", I found this one to be kind of hollow. The wit flavors are somewhat overshadowed by alcohol and bitterness. Certainly not bad, but not top of the class.

Very solid Wit Beer. Not as good as Allagash, but better than most.

A: Cloudy, pale lemon body, that needs an aggressive pour to fully form its intense fine bubbled, lasting and lacing head.

S: Soft and muted, but no false notes. Very belgian in style with flower blossoms, orange, coriander, yeast against sugar cookie backdrop.

T: Follows the smell but more intense. I didnt mind the double strength. Big wit, filled with citrus flower blossoms, lemon peel, perfume, spice, yeast, coriander, and plenty of pepper in the finish. Pleasing. Clean.
MF: More body seems to come with the alcohol, but refreshing and good food beer. More serious than most wits.

Must try.

Thanks to some friends, I went through a couple sixers of this last week on vacation in Riverhead.

This wit looks exactly as I hope, traditional in every sense. It's a very pale white gold color with a light haziness through the body. The head is ivory white, soft, fluffy and dense, and it stands just over one finger tall. It lowers but very slowly, staying firm enough that it holds up for the duration and leaves behind plenty of patching and webbing as it does.
The nose is nice, with a soft spiciness, plenty of coriander and a clove-like note along with white pepper, orange zest, and a touch of lemon along with some herb over a base of dry malts like cracked wheat.
The flavor brings everything out even more; this is a great witbier at about double strength, and I can't help thinking they got exactly what they were going for. I'm not sure what more people could expect out of this beer. It's not perfect, but it is fantastic.
The flow is excellent, and there's a fluffy, creamy softness that keeps up in the light-medium body all the way. Each sip is bright, zesty and crisp while being completely smooth as well.

12oz bottle poured into am Ommegang chalice.

A: Pours a hazy golden color with dark sediment particles that settle on the bottom of the glass. Creamy white head retains well enough. Thin rings of lacing.

S: Yeasty and peppery with a healthy dose of orange peel. Lightly musty. Dusty and bready wheat.

T: Orange peel is front and center, but a strong peppery coriander flavor quickly follows it. Creamy and doughy wheat. Tame yeast and very mild phenols. Hollow hop bitterness. Touch of alcohol. Wheaty finish with trailing pepper and orange peel.

M: Medium-light body. Sturdy creamy and frothy texture. Ample carbonation scrubs a bit and adds a refreshing bite. Light peppery heat.

O: As the name suggests, what we have here is a bold, dosed up witbier. Big in flavor, especially with the coriander and orange peel, but still tame enough to drink easily. It's an enjoyable brew.

probably my favorite witbier to date. full almost creamy feel, light hoppiness, yeast, light spice. very well balanced, still flavorful, no blandness. just the right level of spice. goes down very clean, sessionable and over 6.5 abv. probably one of my favorite beers to drink in the warm season

[Suggested Glassware: Weizen Glass]

The pour was a cloudy medium yellow with a small (less than 1 finger) white bubbly head that quickly diminished, down to a lightly scattered film and small collar which did eventually disappear with poor spotty lacing.

The aroma was mild with a grain malt and a light soapy yeast with a hint of citrus (lemon and orange), a touch of coriander and a mild note of pepper.

The taste was lightly citrusy throughout with a decent wheat presence stepping up only to be slightly overshadowed by a somewhat bold spiciness at the end. The flavor hung on for a good while after the swallow, with a citrusy and mildly peppery taste that was left to linger at the back of the throat.

Mouthfeel was light in body with a moderately dry texture and an almost prickly carbonation.

Overall this was a zesty tasting Witbier with lots of citrus flavor upfront and a yeasty spicy taste that relaxed on the taste buds at the finish...

Poured from 12 oz bottle into tulip glass. Cloudy, light golden straw color, medium carbonation, ½ inch of white head with some lacing that clings to the side. Smell is of orange peel, coriander and some other spices; some banana and bread as well. Taste is a complex but well-balanced mix of the citrus (tart and sweet), wheat and spices. Very slight hops and a twinge of alcohol. Medium-light mouthfeel. Finishes very clean. Overall, a nice example of this style. Would pair well with seafood (this would be great with mussels), white meats, light pasta, veggies, etc.

Pint on tap at Library in Farmingdale, N.Y.

Appearance: Pours a golden straw color with a minimal head that is gone in a hurry. Lacing is almost nonexistent. I'm sort of surprised by how clear this appears because I read that it was unfiltered. It's slightly hazy, but less than I expected.

Aroma: Smells like lemon, citrus, grapefruit, hop bitterness and pine. It's more faint than I'd expected, though.

Taste: This has a sort of odd chalky taste that doesn't really appeal to me. The dominant flavor, however, is lemon. It's okay but I was hoping for a little more citrus and less lemon.

Mouthfeel: The chalkiness is evident in the mouthfeel. Otherwise it's kind of watery.

Overall: I thought this was very average on the whole. It has some appealing qualities but is far from my favorite example of the style. I'm glad I tried it but the mac & cheese I had with it was the star of the meal.

Appearance: This beer poured a one finger frothy head that reduced to a thin layer and left frothy lacing. It is a hazy pale yellow with some vision of bubbles coming up through the glass.

Smell: Bready malts, citrus, lemony, spicy, and a little sweetness.

Taste: Bready, vanilla, spices, lemony, orange, a little sweet, and some tartness.

Mouthfeel: A bit chewy, but smooth, medium to high carbonation, refreshing, medium bodied, and a little dry.

Overall: I feel like I have had this one before. Pretty solid and refreshing.

Poured practically no head. Initially almost transparent yellow color that becomes hazy with residual yeast.
Aroma of coriander, lemon and oranges interchanging which one is stronger, wheaty bread and subtle banana.
Flavor is more interesting, notes of lemon, spices with clear white pepper and coriander, pale and wheat malt, oranges and a bit of banana.
Light to medium body with good carbonation. Alcohol of 6.6% abv which is quite high relatively to the style is seen nowhere.
Super refreshing and tasty Witbier with a bold malt profile. If just to be compared to other Witbier, maybe I should’ve given some extra points.
