12 oz pour on tap into a shaker pint
A: Not much head as the pour was almost to the rim, but it was a small mocha colored head. Body was pitch black.
S: Anise, licorice, dark chocolate, burnt roasted malts.
T: Lots of the burn roasted malts, a little coffee, lots of bitter dark chocolate and licorice slight hints of alcohol as it warms.
M: Full feel a little chalky and nice chewiness
O: This is a solid imperial stout the alcohol was creeping as it warmed though. You will enjoy it if you see it on tap solid beer.

Description: Dark brown/black with little to no head. Smell is predominantly leather or tobacco although the aroma was pretty muted and unimpressive. Taste was similar to the smell perhaps with the addition of some dark chocolate. It was o.k. Just o.k. Mouthfeel was a little thin for a stout and it really felt more like a porter to me.
Suggested food pairing: I ate a Tootsie Roll while drinking this and don't regret it.
If you like this beer then you should also try: Breakfast Stout
Overall: 3.75 (This beer is good but I would not likely drink it again) Pretty run of the mill for an RIS. Not bad but not memorable. Sort of a poor man's Breakfast Stout. A very, very, poor man.
