Growler from the Barrel and Bottle at the North Market.

A - Pours a ruddy straw color with a foamy white head which dissipates into nothing rather quickly.

S - Caramelly sweet fruits; the pawpaw is definitely there, but there is also quite a bit of scent from the malts.

T - Really is mostly pawpaw fruit; reminds me of my childhood because my parents' neighbors used to have a pawpaw tree in the back yard. Although there is some malt flavor involved I believe it merely enhances the fruit flavor that is already trying to overpower it.

M - Medium to light body and well carbed. Slightly dry. A nice refreshing beverage.

O - This is a nice one to try; the unique indigenous fruit flavor plays well with the other ingredients in this beer; but pawpaw is obviously meant to take the center stage here. Glad I got to have a growler!

On tap at Weasel Boy this past weekend.

Pours a good orangish-peach color with a good white head. A few spots of lacing as it falls and a cap throughout. Nose carries a good dosage of the paw paw fruit, which is awesome as far as I'm concerned. Citrus and floral hops around that. Light bread in the background, though more so in the flavor. Paw paw there as well, though not as many hops as the nose. Mouthfeel is great with the paw paw providing a light citrus zest and light tartness. Really love that fruit, and a good use of it here.

A- Light but cloudy straw color. Some head when poured into our pint glasses.

S- The paw paw fruit is quite evident. Sweet and clean. The smell adds to the brew.

M- Good body for a pale ale.

T- The taste is rather enjoyable for a summer seasonal. There is a definite sweet presence and paw paw fruit.

D- Very drinkable. The growler did not last long. A perfect summer beer.

O- The paw paw fruit was an enjoyable addition to a standard pale. Definitely worth a stop at the brewery, especially on a hot, lazy afternoon.

Appearance - Not sure if it was the lighting the the restaurant, but it appeared to have a grey/brown tint. Cloudy with hints of lacing.

Smell - A nice light fruity scent.

Taste - The paw paw taste was subtle, not overpowering at all.

Feel - Smooth, light & refreshing.

Overall - This was a nice refreshing summer alternative beer. Not something I feel the need to seek out, but definitely something I'd drink again.

On tap at Bodega. Weasel Boy and Jackie O's both have a pale ale with pawpaw fruit, I have never had one until this beer though.

This one really isn't a pretty one. Its quite murky and muddy. Its a dirty dishwater orange with a loose, fizzy head.

The aroma is very interesting and extremely tropical. The pawpaw fruits really take hold. A big sweetness, like cotton candy, bananas and melons all mixed together. Its strong enough to pretty much cover up the subtle base beer.

The taste is very much like the smell. Tropical, exotic and sweet. It tastes like tropical Starburt candy. The hops peek out every once in a while, and their bitter citrus flavor actually messes it up slightly. Notes of banana, mango, cotton candy and melon. The base beer is pretty much hidden, but the flavors are as light and refreshing as a juicy piece of fruit.

Light bodied and highly carbonated.

This one was really interesting. It was actually a pleasure to drink. I'd have this again for sure.
