Always a good stout but just got a lot more interesting with the four variations they releasing this month. Loving the first one, Banana Bread, looking forward to the other three!

Black beer with a small tan colored head.
Chocolate and caramel in about the same proportions in both taste and smell.
Big chocolate and caramel taste with some smoke. Tastes slightly burnt.
Mouthfeel is silky.
Overall a tasty stout with no rough edges.

Poured from a 64 oz. growler from Laurelwood Brewery. Filled about an hour ago.
A: Pitch black with a dense off brown head. Producing wonderful lace down the glass.
S: Hints of chocolate, molasses, espresso / cold brewed coffee.
T: Similar to the smell. Chocolate and coffee, very faint licorice flavor.
M: Moderately carbonated. This beer has a very nice flavor of chocolate and coffee but the body is very thin. The flavor leaves the palate very quickly after consuming. Where are the smooth velvet tones?
O: It's a decent stout but I have issues with the body. Laurelwood makes some fine ales but I've had way better beers for the style.

On tap in PDX near the "E" gates. One finger of tan head on a pitch black body.
Aroma is coffee, chocolate and roasted malt. Great balance and boldness.
The taste is coffee, chocolate and roasted malt with the chocolate really shining through.
Texture is silky with low carbonation and heavy body.
Overall an excellent beer.

Tried on tap 28 Aug 2012 at Laurelwood, PDX terminal A.
Small brown head. Minimally carbonated. Very dark brown in color, almost opaque. Aroma is roast coffee and some chocolate. Fairly roasty bitter to start with some chocolate and mocha notes. Medium body. Alcohol not too strong. Bittersweet chocolate throughout. Finish and aftertaste roasty and bittersweet.
Not bad (and improves as it warms), but seems just a bit on the light side for a FES.

First had: on tap at Laurelwood Public House, Portland, OR
All the typical appearances of a stout: dark brown-black color with a small, creamy, beige head. Dark roasty malts in the aroma, and a bit of coffee and cocoa. Roasty taste, dark malts, bitter notes of coffee and cocoa, lightly hopped. Nothing you haven't seen or tasted before. Medium body, maybe thinner than you'd expect for a stout, but overall, not too bad.
