We're turning Hallowe’en inside out and upside down. Pumpkinhead is not your usual unctuous, cloyingly sweet Hallowe’en pumpkin ale. Sure, there’s a huge heady hit of pungent spice on the nose, but it’s followed with bright and zesty citrus flavours, and a light mouthfeel.
Spicy and sweet autumnal favourites like toasted marshmallow and toffee apple are just some of the complex notes you’ll find in our first twisted take on a pumpkin ale, which weighs in at 5.1% ABV.

Amber color with off-white head. Aroma is spice heavy with nutmeg in the front. Taste has also a lot of spices and gingerbread. Not really sweet, just spicy. Quite nice overall.

My first pumpkin ale tended to be terrific, according to look and smell, but finally is good and solid.

Orange-amber with loose yolky head that stays around. 3.75
Big spicy nose that wants to be carrot cake but is actually root beer. 3.75
Chewy toffee malts, some gloopy starchy thing, aggressive ginger and cinnamon oil, and some Fanta orange. 3.5
Red Hots finish and sticky linger.
Medium, lots of chew, round. 3.75
Tries to trace big flavours in broad strokes and ends up a patchwork of sticky caramel and spice extract oils. A Cloying mess. 3.25

Pours clear, shiny amber, small white head that quickly becomes a frothy mess of a lace.
Smell of sweet pumpkin pie, heavily spiced with nutmeg, ginger, vanilla, faint cinnamon, faint anise, the whole package. Candied apple, speculoos cookies, really nice smelling without any alcoholic back.
A "full" mouthful of pumpkin and spices, just as the smell predicted, with a dry veggie feel stuck to it. Buckets of clove and nutmeg, some prickly ginger, a dust of cinnamon, faint black pepper. Surprisingly not too sweet, just a natural sweet baked pumpkin feel, without being sprinkled with sugar. Clove and earthy hop finish, a bit dry too.
Aftertaste is almost exclusively spicy, especially with clove. Body is medium, just a bit sticky, medium carbonation.
Nice pumpkin ale, although the clove seems to pile up, as if you're repeatedly taking the last sip from a cup of Christmas mulled wine. Eeeeeh..
