Poured to a BrewDog snifter.

A: The body is pitch black, having just a slight licquour-y profile. Head is minimal and light brown, only existing to sides of the glass with literally no retention nor lacing.
S: The aroma coming in is overwhelmingly strong of alcohol with just a bit of malty, toffee & coffee based backbone. It really states that the beer is just too strong and not that great in flavour for sure.
T: Taste starts off with an innocent caramel to sweet coffee flavour. In the middle of the sip, there's real spiciness on the tongue's response. In the back, it closes with bitter dark chocolate. Right after, a giant aftertaste of alcohol is unpleasant and very prominent.
M: Body is medium to high. Carbonation is good. Spiciness is very prominent but not dizzying. Alcohol is overwhelming and not pleasant.
O: From my experience with Mikkeller Black, I was expecting this to be a lot more unpleasant experience than it was. Flavours present are mostly good, being the stupid amount of alcohol the only thing that's wrong with this beer.

330ml Bottle from Brewdog.com (£7.70):
Dark mahogany & opaque with a 1cm, foamy tan head that halves in size then turns patchy but is great for the strength & age of the beer. It's dark & slightly sweet smelling but not overly pronounced surprisingly, I got some vanilla & light alcohol with dark fruits & quite a boozy, warming finish. The taste is stronger with more boozy alcohol, cognac & dark malts, a warming spice from the chillies them some chocolate sweetness. It's full bodied, softly carbonated & spicy; it's quite rich & boozy too that is perhaps just a touch strong at times.

Bottle bought some years ago at Coriasso's. Best before 2027 served at home in a sifter glass. Black colour, no head and no lacing.
Aroma is alcoholic, varnish, chocolate, cognac, coriander?, caramel, dried fruits. Chili is not much present here.
Full body, dense thick texture, no carbonation. Spicy peppery finish.
In tongue chili is really present, alongside chocolate, coffee, raisins and cognac. I had it stored for some years, but it's worth the shile. Good shit.

A 330ml boxed bottle, batch 170226, with a best before date of 1st April 2027. Poured into a snifter glass.

Appearance: Dark brown in colour with a thin beige head that dissipated quickly while leaving some sparse lacing.

Aroma: Light roast, cacao, dark chocolate, caramel, coffee, toffee, light boozy (maybe cognac), and a touch of herbal chili.

Taste: Chili spice, cognac booze, caramel, toffee, light roast, with touches of chocolate and hints of coffee.

Mouthfeel: Creamy, chili bite, full bodied with soft carbonation.

Overall: Smooth, chili spice forward. Cognac booze is there, but less than I expected considering this is 17.5% abv. The spiciness balanced the caramel and toffee sweetness. Although there was less roast and chocolate for an Imperial Stout, it wasn’t as boozy as I thought it would be, and the spiciness was prominent, but very good.

Cellared bottle. Good beer, but little flaws hold it back from being great. The cognac feels like a midstep with the spicy punch they are going for. Cognac plays well with caramel and coffee flavors, but the mexican chocolate clashes, resulting in a syrupy and boozy burn on the finish. It is like a college freshman, it really wants us to know it got booze! Like the pieces, but the sum feels misguided. Also the cognac smoothness is opposed to the spice texture.
