Lost Lager takes back the ground lost over decades by lager monoliths. Lost Lager is a dry-hopped pilsner made with classic German Saphir hops, giving vibrant citrus and stonefruit notes. Built from Bavarian yeast, it has a crisp clean taste. This is lager like it was. Like it should be. Like it will be.

16 ounce can into lager glass, canned on 10/22/2018. Pours slightly hazy pale golden yellow color with a 1 finger dense and rocky white head with great retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, melon, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/earthy hops and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, melon, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, melon, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/earthy hops and moderate pale malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Moderately crisp/clean finishing. Perfectly clean on lager flavors, with zero yeasty notes. Moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/sticky, and lightly resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.7%. Overall this is an excellent German Pilsner! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/earthy hops and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the moderately bitter/drying finish, no aggressive. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Awesome Saphir/Saaz profile. Very vibrant, dank, and earthy balanced hop complexity; with a perfectly clean pils malt backbone. No residual sweetness from crisp dryness. A really enjoyable offering, and impressive spot on style example.

Pale straw yellow in color with perfect clarity. Poured with a soapy, bright white foam with medium low retention. Medium light spicy and floral hop aromas with medium light maltiness beneath. Medium bodied with biting, medium carbonation. Bready and pilsner malt flavors followed by earthy, spicy hops and medium hop bitterness. Bitterness transitions to spicy hop flavors to the end. Finished dryly and cleanly light herbal hop and malty notes that slowly fade. Well balanced, light, easy drinking and refreshing. Subtle hop aromas and flavors with a clean malty backbone.

Mild, slightly sweet aroma with a touch of earthy notes. Pours a crystal clear pale straw with a quickly fading white head. Some slight bready notes, and earthy hops come to a quick crisp finish. Light bodied, easy drinking. This is a really good sessionable lager.

12oz can, date stamped 08/28/18. Crystal clear and pale golden body is capped with a thinner white head. Aroma is mild biscuity malt and grassy/herbal hops. Flavors are similar to aroma with mild biscuity malt, floral, grassy, and herbal hops, a bit vegetal. Light body, ample carbonation, balanced finish. Very straight forward lager, but comes across a little sweet. I was hoping the hops would come through just a bit more.

Decanted from a 12 oz (355 ml) can into a custom Sam Adams pint; canned on 08/28/18.
A: Pours a crystal, crystal clear, golden color with a two finger, white head initially, solid retention and ongoing formation, and rings of white lacing.
S: Aromas of citrus (most lemon, but some grapefruit) with grassy and grainy elements.
T: Flavors similar to nose, with apricot and lemon candy notes. Less than subtle bitterness is a change of pace.
M: Light bodied with impressive carbonation leading to ongoing tiny bubble formation. More tingling on the palate than I would usually expect.
O: A delicious, flavor forward German Pilsner style lager. I agree that this is one version of what a lager can and should taste like.

12oz can, served in a pilsner glass. Date stamp 08/28/18 180363 1608.

Appearance: Clear pale gold with a very thin white head. Some occasional strands of lacing noted.

Smell: Citrus (lemon mostly), a bit leafy/herbal, with some underlying sweetness.

Taste: Citrus/lemon up front, cracker-like malt, something a bit fruity with some tartness to it, and a bitter herbal finish.

Mouthfeel: Good carbonation. Crisp dry finish.

Overall / Drinkability: The hop profile on this beer is very interesting - but I find it a bit too bitter and overwhelming of the lager characteristics of this beer. There is some underlying lager flavor, but it's hidden by the saphir hop, which I'm not as familiar with and I find needs to be toned down a bit and then we would have a more drinkable lager. Otherwise, it's interesting, but one is enough.

Bottled in a six hundred and sixty ml bottle .
Pours a pretty much full on clear golden body with decent .
Aroma is pear and talcum powder
quite a perfumed taste that takes that aroma on board

Pours a very clear yellow gold. No foam to speak of. Has a soapy smell to it. Taste is bready malt and some light citrus. Carbonation seems weak at first but it's finishes a little gritty. Pretty forgettable beer

L- Wow, probably the palest beer I think I've ever seen! It is veeery pale yellow. Slightly hazy, lively rising carbonation into a sustained 5mm white head.
S- I get stone-fruits. Somewhere around peach and apricot.
T- It's dry and the flavour is very subtle to me. It is quite bitter and I get grains. It is only by 'lip-smacking' my mouth and then opening it (!) I finally get some citrus; seems quite lemony to me.
M- Dry, thin. This might work on a hot summers day. But anything spicy even BBQd food would likely bury it's flavour. Carbonation in the mouth is good.
O- Tasted and scored 'blind', and quite surprised to find it's Brewdog. Monkist below suggests this is like a 'plain German lager' but I lived in Germany for three years and don't recall ever having a beer like this one. It seems austere to me. A curious brew in my view/experience.

I thought I'd sampled each of the beers stocked in my local London Tesco but today I bought two new brews there from Brewdog. I had to laugh that this beer is described as 'Like it should be. Like it will be' yet 'Availability: Limited (brewed once)'. £2.60 for a 660ml bottle.
