Very Good
Punk IPAPunk IPA
Notes: Our scene-stealing flagship is an India Pale Ale that has become a byword for craft beer rebellion; synonymous with the insurgency against mass-produced, lowest common denominator beer. Punk IPA charges the barricades to fly its colours from the ramparts – full-on, full-flavour; at full-throttle. Layered with new world hops to create an explosion of tropical fruit and an all-out riot of grapefruit, pineapple and lychee before a spiky bitter finish, this is transatlantic fusion running at the fences of lost empires. Nothing will ever be the same again.

Dollar bargain bin find at my local beer store. Decent IPA. Hazy dark straw color. Average bitterness. Light on grapefruit. Not a good ending, however. Just average here.

A tropical ipa which is bitter citrus with some pine. I didnt taste anything different throughout the experience, just citrus and bitter. Not bad but I prefer elvis juice overall for every category.

I had this out of a can.

Clear amber with thick frothy head.

Smells hoppy.

Slightly bitter to taste.

Feels light and crisp, not too much carbonation.

Overall very nice IPA. Would definitely drink again.

Cloudy light orange IPA, big fluffy white head, limited lacing.

Citrus lemon and grapefruit, some earthy tones. Biscuity malt, a bit dry, but a strong bitter finish with noticeable alcohol. Far too carbonated in my opinion.

Pleasant IPA with enough character to peak one’s interest.

12oz can into tulip pint. Pours a hazy gold. Thick head fades to dense lace relatively quickly. Tropical fruit and herbal/citrus hop notes on the nose. Flavor is well balanced. There's a bitterness in the finish that reminds you it's an IPA, but the malt backbone stands up to it.

Had this "American IPA" many times when I lived in Edinburgh. It is better than many of the UK's "IPA"s that are under 5 abv, but lacks the crisp floral character of a lot of the renowned IPAs from American craft breweries.

Can into plastic cup (hey, it was a company picnic). Pours a clear gold-amber with a substantial off-white head. Initial impression is clean and refreshing grapefruit, pineapple, and mango. Mouthfeel is medium, as is carbonation. Finish is slightly sweet, with a tiny bit of lingering bitterness. Perhaps not world class, but very drinkable and thoroughly enjoyable.

You can see why this is so popular. It's a core beer - a classic taste; a gateway to craft. It gets better (and more adventurous) than this, but this is a worthy start for anyone.

12oz can poured into a pint

A- pours golden amber with a two-ginger foamy white head that has great retention

S- tropical fruit, citrus zest, pine, biscuity malt

T- tropical fruity hop notes of pineapple, mango and grapefruit zest, as well as orange pith. Mid-palate gives a bit of toasted biscuit malt, the finish gives more tropical fruit with a zesty bitter finish

M- medium body with moderate carbonation, foamy mouthfeel that continues into a cris finish

Pours nicely from the can, light gold with a good head that stays awhile. Good variety of flavors, there was nothing overpowering. I liked that the different flavor notes hit separately- I rarely can tell them apart, but this was distinct. Went very well with my pizza. Will definitely choose this again!

12oz bottle. Poured out a clear, golden orange color with a small, white head of bubbly foam. It smelled of pine, citrus and toasted caramel. Sweet caramel maltiness with pine bitterness and a citrus kick.

Review: 50cl can of Brewdog Punk IPA: 5.6% vol.

A “post modern classic” as they say on the can, or ” The beer that began a revolution” on the website. Yeah the usual guff from the Brewdog boys. LOL.

On pour, get a very good frothy white head, and a clear golden coloured beer, looks very decent. Some very good lacing. A nice looking brew.

The aroma is very good, a typical IPA smell off the beer, very hoppy, fruity and citrusy, caramels, crisp and strong on the nose, but all good.

Taste is what you would expect from the BrewDog guys, all overloaded with hops, but they are all very manageable and well balanced, and very tasty to boot in this one.

Get a lot in the can which is always good.

Like this a lot, very tasty, and extremely crisp and relaxing to sip. The tropical fruits are banging, the malts are there and the hops are just killing it. Very easy to drink and enjoy. A perfectly balanced beer.

Fantastic beer, very good, typical IPA, but no fucking around, no messing, got it just right, just dead on. A perfect example of what an IPA is all about, sets the standard for sure. And topped that standard taste with the tropical fruits to produce a classic.
Very good. The tropical fruits really add to the flavours and sets it apart from more regular IPA’s

Recommended. So good I could have drank more than the measly two I got, boy did I want to drink more of these……..

This is a brewery I have been looking to try for a while. Nose is spicy and hoppy and fairly drenched in pine. The taste is similar with a juicy finish and plenty of carbonation. This is an okay IPA but doesn't really stand out for me, particularly considering the name. Easy to drink, and certainly not bd, just a tad boring.

Hazy in the glass, can see through the glass but not well. I taste a little funk with this one. A lot of citrus notes, I get pineapple and orange. Like this beer.

Poured from a 330ml ca. Best by 10/07/2019
An average easy drinking IPA, good hop bitterness. I would never turn one down.
Flat looking and a bit fizzy.

Decanted from a 12 oz (355 ml) can into a custom taster pint; canned on 09/20/2018.
A: Pours a very slight hazy, dark golden color with a less than one finger, white head. low retention, and spidery and lasting lacing.
S: Fruity. Aromas of mango, tangerine, caramel, and pineapple.
T: Semidry. Fruity with flavors derived from nose. Bitterness subtle and well balanced with caramel and fruits.
M: Light to medium bodied with medium effervescence.
O: Punk IPA probably falls in the category of an East Coast IPA. Light, fruity, refreshing, very well balanced. In this ear of big, big flavor beers. A refreshing change of pace.

500 cl can - pours a not quite clear golden colour with 2 fingers of slightly off white head. Aroma is malty sweet with mango, pineapple, verging on a bit sweaty.
Taste is pleasantly hoppy without being overly bitter - orange, mango, slightly tropical - very well balanced. Finishes with malty sweetness well balanced hop - very drinkable. A really good old style IPA.

I was surprised I hadn't rated this one before, here goes...
L- Darker gold, veeery slight haze. Pours with say 3-4mm white head now heading to lacing / late ps, which holds well.
S- Simple to get the fruits from this, Seems like a combo of lychee + tangerine.
T- Hoppy on the front, balanced fruitiness follows. It is not a contemporarily fashionable 'hop bomb', it's balanced.
M- It is to the dryer side and refreshing.
O- Nice. When I see a craft type beer this days and the styles 'IPA/APA' and so on I fear hop-bombs, this isn't, it is somewhat over to the dryer side, but they've done a nice job and it's balanced. I'd certainly drink this agaain, nice work.

Bought from Waitrose in London at £6 for a 4-pack of 330ml cans. BB on bottom of can reads: '29/08/19 - REMIXED IN SCOTLAND'

DATE: September 13, 2018... OCCASION: having returned from our first middle school Back to School Night, time for some Office and a solid ale... GLASSWARE: Stoudts pint... the second Brewdog I had pours a light orange amber body, crystal clear with a steady stream of small white bubbles, which builds a two-fingered off-white head...that head unevenly forms waves around the glass and a hazy central smear... hard, well-toasted caramel weds with a nice underpinning of orange and lemon citrus... its lengthy list of hops blesses it with a heightened floral aroma.... an oily, smooth, lightly textured body that goes down as easily as its ABV suggests... this gets crunchier as it sips--but it never reaches a weight that halts the next sip... sweet, sharp hops create a fruity, punchy combination of grapefruit, mango, and lemon, with caramel dominating the profile.... a friendly pub ale that does has a flavor profile commensurate with its weight... not as overwhelming in its citrus as it claims to be on its can, though...

Pours a thick foamy head, the usual IPA color, aroma is a little sweet and resiny, the taste is light for the usual IPA , but the taste is very drinkable. Not the most citrus-y, pine-y IPA but I like it.

Decent IPA but not as flavorful as I was expecting. Golden color with very scant head and very minimal spotty lingering lacing. Smells faintly of fruity zest hops. Tastes of citrus zest hops, caramel, vanilla and malt - but flavors seem muted and in the background. Just a little bitterness at the end to remind you it’s an IPA. Mild mouthfeel and good carbonation. Good safe IPA but not very exciting.

look - golden copper color with a slight white head and slight sticky lacing
Smell - tropical scents like grapefruit and pineapple. very light scent
taste - more bitter than the scent would make you think. I can kind of tell the tropical fruit is suppose to be there but I can barely taste it. almost grainy bitterness, maybe slight lemon
feel - medium body a carbonation, slight crispness
Overall - just not impressed with the taste, lacking
