Notes:
Our scene-stealing flagship is an India Pale Ale that has become a byword for craft beer rebellion; synonymous with the insurgency against mass-produced, lowest common denominator beer. Punk IPA charges the barricades to fly its colours from the ramparts – full-on, full-flavour; at full-throttle. Layered with new world hops to create an explosion of tropical fruit and an all-out riot of grapefruit, pineapple and lychee before a spiky bitter finish, this is transatlantic fusion running at the fences of lost empires. Nothing will ever be the same again.

From 6/2/23. Can bought over from England. Surprised I haven't had this before. Decent stab at a American ipa, a little fruity, nice bitter finish.

AMERICAN VERSION 7.5% ABV BREWED IN OHIO Stovepipe Canned December 7th 2022
On the pour a sudsy, white, 2 finger head that quickly becomes a touch rocky and loses some height. Body is a bit hazy and a yellow gold. Some foam sticks to the glass but I wouldn't call it lacing.
Aroma is bright, suggesting acidity, followed by an orange rhindy pine aroma. Very bright resinous and fruity, but not tropical. Definitely WC.
Taste is bitter sweet up front with a fruity, but also light caramel sweetness coming through. The bitterness lingers, but the caramel maltiness grows through the finish. I'm unsure if my taste buds are becoming less sensitive to hops, or if this is just a surprisingly balanced IPA. One might call this a bit syrupy.
Despite the sweeter malty taste, the immediate mouth feel is drying and attenuated. The syrupy feeling does come back for a full and long finish, but this is very drinkable as you are consuming it.
Overall, I enjoyed this more than Atomic Torpedo, and Imperial 420, but this is a very full beer, and not as bright and hoppy as I'd like. Pliny and Heady are unbeatable.

From a can that came in a mixed pack, this brew pours a gold-orange color with considerable haze. The head is cream colored, rocky, and stable. The aroma has tropical fruit and resin-like scents. Definitely an IPA. The taste is solidly bitter with a strong flavor. Assertive and enjoyable.

Pours out of the can a gently hazy orange-gold with a finger of head and mild retention. Smells of pine, citrus, and resin. Taste follows suit. The resinous and earthy notes take the front seat on this one. Pretty classic West Coast style IPA for sure.

Picked up a sample pack of four Brewdog Brews from Price Smart in Bogota´. C$45k pesos or about US$9 Came with a very cool glass. Popping the top on the can I get a waft of bready malt. Pours to a transparent yellow orange with a nice lacy head. On the taste the mouthfeel is thick. The upfront is a bready bitterness with slight notes of banana, grapefruit and a coarse bitterness throughout The finish is a clingy bitterness that sticks on the tongue. A nice IPA .

Poured a 440 ml can to IPA glass.
Color is yellow and slightly hazy. Has a long head that lasts.
The smell is a burst of citrusy with Earth, grass and pine hops , a little tropical un back.
The taste is great it is hoppy and follows The smell being citrusy but also has a pine flavor to it. A little bitterness in The back.
The body is medium light and has a nice amount of carbonation.
I personal y prefer more biterrness and dry hop but it is very delicious! More like a session IPA

12oz can on train out of Edinburgh. Hazy golden pour with thick fluffy white head. Light hoppy aroma, grassy, citrus, pine. Taste is fruity, hoppy and super smooth. Full and creamy. I can see why an empire was built on this brew.

12oz can. So there is a huge confusing discrepancy here.
Per the website, "Punk IPA" is 5.4% ABV and brewed with extra pale and caramalt, hopped with Ahtanum, Amarillo, Cascade , Chinook, Nelson Sauvin, Simcoe.
What I am drinking is "Punk IPA West Coast IPA" which per the website is an updated version, has an ABV of 7.5%, is brewed with Crystal, Vienna, Two-Row and hopped with Centennial, Citra, Columbus, Simcoe. 2 completely different beers, however there is no Punk IPA West coast on beeradvocate, so it looks like all these reviews are being put in 1 place.
That being said. Pours out to a slightly hazy burnt orange, forming a large off white head with great retention and a solid sticky sheet of lace. Carbonation is moderate, ~2.5 carbs or so. The nose is nice, definitely west coast with Centennial and columbus. Grapefruit, mango, pineapple and slight pine. I like a little more pine in my West Coast IPAs, so Chinook would have been a nice addition here. No off aromas. No cat pee. The taste has more pine right up front, which is nice, followed by bitter grapefruit pith and then some lighter mango and pineapple notes. bitterness is medium firm, true to style and it finishes dry with a lingering pine aftertaste. Medium body, not syrupy and slightly tart from all the hops, a little white pepper from the alcohol in the finish.
A nice west coat IPA. Comparable to stone IPA, Lagunitas, Bear Republic and Sierra Nevada. I prefer NEIPA's at this point, but if I'm in the mood for west coast, this satisfies and is well brewed. Good example of the style, recommended and worth trying.

On a par with Dogfish Head or another mass-produced "IPA" (i.e., a beer with some hops).

Hazy apricot color with a moderate foamy white head that dissipates slowly and does a bit of nice lacing.
The aroma is biscuit malt, citrus and pine.
The taste is grapefruit, lemon, banana with a biscuit malt backbone. The finish is slightly dry, grapefruit and lemon zest with a bit of pine resin.
The body is light/medium and fairly smooth, very drinkable.
Altogether a very refreshing and easy drinking session IPA.

Poured this from a bottle.
A: pours an almost clear, straw yellow body with a silky, pillowy, fluffy white head with great retention and lacing.
S: earthy, citrus smell; all hops in my face.
T: bitter, leafy, earthy and slight grapefruit citrus taste; almost seems a little skunky, but in a leafy and earthy way.
M: medium bodied and pretty smooth.
O: nice feel and taste combo; ok drinking IPA overall.

From the can in the 2021 BrewDog Advent Calendar, it pours a clear amber color with a nice white head that leaves lacing and lasts. The nose gets a touch of citrus over malt. The mouth gets a light citrus accented malt flavor that is a touch watery. Overall, however, this is a decent Session IPA

FLAVORS is the keyword to this Scottish ale. Worthy of the best American IPAs; some bitterness and a reasonable* ABV level. Perfection.
I've had many draught pints at Black Peat pub in Angers, in the Loire Valley.
To me, away from Wisconsin, this ale is Oxygen. Every first sip I take feels like a new surprise... and the feeling lasts to the end of the pint.
BrewDog Punk IPA is made using just the most basic 4 ingredients:
▪︎ Water - malted barley - select hops**, and yeast. Just like the purest of German beers!
▪︎ ▪︎ ▪︎
(**) Centennial; Citra; Mosaic, and Simcoe.
---------------
(*) 6.5% ABV => This, I believe, is an Export version.
▪︎Edited and updated October 2021.

poured from a can into a clean pint glass settles to an orange tinged yellow. head at about an half inch then slowly dissipates. overwhelming first sniff of indistinct fruit and chemicals, couple of sniffs in then I think you could claim to smell lychee. unfamiliar initial taste, like out of place and heavy flavoured fruit water, light carbonation like a warm sparkling water. slight burn on the back of the throat on the swallow then eventually a taste of ale that is bitter and that then unpleasantly lingers. I cannot understand the fuss, the hype , supposed popularity or the price. Willing to admit the colder it is drank the easier it is to tolerate, just like extremely chilled cheap white wine would be tolerable, if not broken why try to fix an IPA ?
