Notes / Commercial Description:
What do you get if you blend Hardcore IPA and I Beat You together and then add even more dry hops?

I Hardcore You of course. This is the return, for a limited time only, of a beer which proved firm favourite with hop heads.

I Hardcore You is a 9.5% Imperial India Pale Ale. After blending these two awesome beers, the beer is then dry hopped another two times.

12oz glass at the official tap takeover @theundergroundedm.

This beer appears a clear medium bronzed amber hue, with two skinny fingers of thick, puffy, bubbly beige head, which leaves a wash of random inkblot lace around the glass as it evenly subsides.

It smells quite pungently of fleshy grapefruit rind, orange cream, pine resin, caramel pudding, rich toffee, and a floral, leafy, somewhat perfumed booze warming. The taste is rather sugary, dense caramel/toffee malt, sharp grapefruit juice, mild tropical fruit - guava and a hint of pineapple, mostly - wet pine needles, and more floral, earthy hops. Only a slight, and now abstracted, alcohol heat lingers at the edges.

The carbonation is quite soft and serene, the body a hefty medium-full weight, and actually fairly smooth, the hop prickliness kept to a dull hum, which even allows for some creamy twists. It finishes on the sweet side, as the malt holds steady, and the hops lose a lot of their bitter bite.

A pretty enjoyable DIPA, one that almost keeps it up through the (so-called) bitter end. Full, round, and with a well-integrated 19 proof booze, this is one heavy hitter that you'd better keep your fool head up around.

Bottle from Good Spirits Co, Glasgow (330ml, £3.80):
Mild amber with a thin looking, bubbly white head on top about 2 millimetres tall that manages to stay consistent.

Tropical fruits, lots of pine and some pretty strong grapefruit too. Strong bitter notes and a hint of alcohol along with some caramel malt undertones. This one was pretty much what I was expecting from a beer that had been dry hopped so many times, lots of pine and bitterness with some good tropical fruits and a nice sweetness to it as well.

Alcohol laced, sweet malt base and some very bitter flavours following it. There is also some strong pine hops as you would expect and a huge amount of tropical fruits and grapefruit too, together with some citrus and a hint of caramel. There is a bit of orange towards the end and a very bitter and hoppy finish.

Very bitter, some light alcohol that is covered by the sweetness and the bitterness. The body is about medium and the mouthfeel is a rather smooth and boozy feeling one.

Very bitter beer with some great tropical fruits and a nice caramel base that does well to cover the 9.5% abv. of this one. Whilst a very strong beer, this one was also a pleasure to drink and one that I will try to pick up again should Brewdog/Mikkeller decide to release it again in the future.
