355ml brown bottle poured into a Delirium Tremens snifter.
A. A clear, deep orange almost red coloured ale topped by a good bubbly off-white head.
S. Lemons, plenty of hops, leather, raisins and a slightly burnt wood aroma. This is on a par with Stone's Ruinition IPA.
T. A great hop taste in this beer, bitter oranges, grapefruit and dark fruits.
M. Full bodied.
D. Best Brewdog beer I have had to date, it reminds me so much of Stone's Ruinition. I could drink this all day and al night.

Supermarket brand IIPA? Okay, its Brewdog. Pours near orange with a thin head...potentially not a clean glass, so giving benefit of the doubt. Nose is classic c hops, pine and citrus. Definitely malt behind the hops. Flavor is a quick flash of maltiness followed by astringent bitterness. Actually, a bit disappointing after the nose. Lacks real malt or hop flavor...aside from the initial hit and bitterness. Overall, good, especially for the price, but not great.

330 ml bottle, Tesco's, Bristol - Pours clear amber with small head that quickly dissipates to film. Strong carbonation. Small amount of lacing. Smell - Hops to the fore with pine and citrus. Taste - citrus at the front, sweet with a sharp bitter finish. One to seek out again and sip longingly.

Never tried an American Double brewed in the UK before, this is a very very good beer. Does not quite reach the hoppy heights of Sierra Nevada Hoptimum Imperial but still packs a significant punch. The alcohol kick is nice but not surprising from the 9.2% abv.
When you consider you can buy this in Tesco for less than two quid it really is a no brainer.
Well done Tesco and Brewdog, more please.

Served at cellar temperature from 330ml bottle into Brooklyn American pint glass. BBD
A) Copper, a fair few bubbles, clear with persistent white head. Looks the part.
S) Smells exactly like SN Torpedo, although more muted. Again, smells the part of an American DIPA. Starting to get excited now.
T) Like Torpedo, but way more bitter. Bitter aftertaste is very long lasting. Definite warming of the chest from the high ABV.
M) Again, on style. Medium mouthfeel, not to fizzy. Smooth. Great.
O) Tesco don't sell Torpedo any more; bad times. They sell this instead; Good times. Having said that, Torpedo has a bit more flavour and is smoother and more balanced than this, despite being a full 2% lower ABV. Bravo Tesco and Brew Dog, a good value DIPA (£1.99 / 330ml) on the supermarket shelves.

Looks, smells and tastes like an American Double IPA should.
Golden, citrus and pine hops aroma continuing to the flavour. Shock of bitter at the end.
Good.

Bottled and sampled on numerous occasions over the past five years
Re-reviewed to take into account
the very much inconsistent quality later on
This started as a ultra citrus big hitter that then went at times awry
