Poured an opaque chocolate brown in a snifter.
Aroma is unique for an Imperial stout: less chocolate- lots of smoke, some leather.
Reminds me of Engine Oil and Ola Dubh from Harviestoun.
The mouth feel is mild- but the alcoholic finish gets quite pronounced with warming.
I can feel the bitterness and alcohol on the back of my tongue with every sip.
Different approach to taste: strong smoke, some leather. This is definitely a Scottish brew.
Americans don't brew beer like this. The beer finishes great: a concentrated alcohol finish
that almost overpowers the beer with warming.
Stylistically, this beer stands out. The usual imperial stout, the gold standard being BCBS, has rich chocolate and coffee. This is totally different- smoke and and a concentrated
smoky alcohol finish. Now I have a to find another bottle to cellar. Good by '22.

Bottle poured into a snifter. Best by 8-6-2022.
Pours a dark brown with hints of red and burgundy with very little to no carbonation. Strong whiskey followed by peat in the aroma - smells great. Taste is whiskey, vanilla and spice from the barrel and hints of chocolate malt, however not as good as the aroma. Certainly a sipper. Probably could have used a few more years in the cellar.
