11.2 fl oz. bottle, Batch no. 186, best before 08-06-2022. Beer review number 1001 for me. Acquired a bottle of this at the local beer store, along with a bottle of BrewDog Paradox Port Dundas. Expectations are much better for this beer, though the big 15.00% abv is destined to doom me.
Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.
A - It pours a thick dark chocolate brown color. An aggressive pour manages to conjure one finger of frothy mocha head that turns to a bubbly ring. Appears adequately carbonated and well-built. Some thin spotty alcohol lacing. Looks very nice when you give it a good swirl.
S - A very lovely aroma. Some alcohol fumes right off the bat from when I popped the bottlecap. Notes of chocolate, powdered cocoa, vanilla, cream, marshmallow, mustiness, earthiness, wood. A very fumey boozy alcohol character.
T - Taste is of cream / vanilla, lots of dark chocolate-covered fruitiness, with some dry bitter powdery chocolatelingering on the finish. It definitely has some sort of earthy / vinous / wine like flavors in there, possibly imparted from the barrel. Very unique.
M - The feel goes down smooth & creamy. Powdery / bitter / roasty on the finish. Only very minor alcohol presence, which is impressive given the big 15.00% abv.
Overall, a very nice big imperial stout from BrewDog. Definitely much better than the previous version I tried. I'd be interested to see how a few more years worth of age would change one of these bottles. Recommended.

Bottle poured into a snifter. Best by 8-6-2022.
Pours a dark brown with hints of red and burgundy with very little to no carbonation. Strong whiskey followed by peat in the aroma - smells great. Taste is whiskey, vanilla and spice from the barrel and hints of chocolate malt, however not as good as the aroma. Certainly a sipper. Probably could have used a few more years in the cellar.
