Notes / Commercial Description:
At BrewDog, we've decided to bring Christmas back home. To cosy nights in with good company and delicious beers. We’re not wishing for a white Christmas, we’re wishing for one as green as Simcoe. Sitting at 7.2% this festive pale ale is an ode to one of our favourite hops. May hop flakes deck the halls and carpet the streets with the tangy sweet citrus aroma of papaya and pineapple.

Clear golden amber colour with a creamy off-white head. Very nice.

RIch, dank hop aroma. Tons of pine and grapefruit. Classic Simcoe. Some sweet malt but mostly just deliciousness.

An intense and delicious hop character up front. A fair bit of cohumulone too. Nice grapefruit and mango flavour. Moderate bitterness.

Medium body with moderate carbonation.

A really solid IPA. Excellent flavour and balance.

A 330ml bottle with a BB of Nov 2014. Acquired recently from the Brewdog online shop. A festive pale ale - Merry Christmas!

Poured into a tulip pint glass. A deep orange-amber hue with low carbonation and some faint floating sediment that looks like protein. Produces a vast head of creamy white foam with good retention; this slowly reduces to a surface layer. Nice lacing. Aroma of intensely fruity, spicy hops with notes of pine resin, weed, tropical fruit, orange peel, citrus and hay. Underpinned by sweet caramel malt and subtle yeast hints. Deliciously hoppy.

Tastes of overwhelming aromatic hops with a powerful bitter finish. Notes of pine resin, dank weed, grapefruit, orange peel, citrus, tropical fruit, grass/hay, mild caramel, subtle earthiness and stewed hops. Slightly spicy, followed by an intensely hoppy bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with prickly carbonation and spicy hop oils stimulating the palate. Good body. Somewhat astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of bitter aromatic hops and pine resin.

Boom - Christmas goes with a bang! While the style isn't particularly festive, this beer is a smorgasbord of hoppy goodness. Looks a little lacklustre but the aroma and flavour are stunning. An avalanche of hop notes on the palate, and a slight resemblence to Christmas trees. Nice body. A solid effort from Brewdog that'll fix your hop cravings for the new year. Well worth sampling if you come across it.

330ml bottle bought from GapWines, Belfast

Poured a nice golden honey colour. Slightly off white head poured thick and foamy. Light carbonation leaves a thin covering throughout... lots of sticky lacing...

Aroma - Juicy, spicy and maybe slightly tropical fruits (lemons, limes, grapefruits, pineapple), spicy yeast, pine, light palm sugar / caramel sweetness, sea salt, light toasted malt, fresh cut wet grass, light herbal notes, quite floral (lillies maybe ?), white pepper...

Taste - Spicy, piney / floral hop bitterness, toasty / biscuity maltiness, light floral honey / caramel sweetness, good fruitiness (oranges, grapefruit, light pineapple, apricot), herbal notes, perfumey, sea salt traces, faint soapy hints...

M&D - Smooth and creamy with a little sharpness underneath. Light / medium bodied... very quaffable..

Overall - An excellent IPA though not particularly festive... highly recommended though...
