Not bad, not great. Had a very large chocolate and roasted malt presence. A little coffee in there as well. Was sort of soapy and had a little burn to it. Which I found surprising for this low of an ABV. It was minimal, but there.

Damn good beer. You can kind of taste the alcohol which pulls a bit from the overall taste. Other than that superb! !!

Poured from 16 oz can dated best by 12/26/2015 into nonic pint.

Love the can art and especially the texture to the can itself.

A. Very dark brown almost black with 2 finger light tan head. Lasting retention and heavy lacing.

S: Roasted malts and coffee beans.

T: Light espresso with roasted malts. Hints of chocolate and caramel.

M: Medium body and nicely carbonated.

O: Nice straight forward porter. Something I would buy regularly if it was in my distro.

It's dark with a tan head. Looks pretty much like a porter.

Smell is coffee.

Taste had something else going on - I wanted roasted malt and some bite but that's not what I got here. This tasted like something I'd find in my mother-in-law's bathroom - floral and soapy. It's oddly not as bad as it sounds, but nothing floral and soapy really can call itself robust.

Feel is thin with moderate carbonation.

It's not bad, but I've had better "robust porters".

A really good porter that's representative of the style. Solid spices and a nice level of roasting, but it's not exceptional in any way. Still has that hollow feel I find in porters.

Poured from the can a deep dark brown with two fingers of tan head.

Aroma of caramel and roasted malts and a light hint of dark fruit notes.

Tasted of roasted malts, caramel, coffee, ash, and a bit of dark fruit.

Lighter bodied and sticky with a lighter carbonation.

Pours a dark brown to almost black color, with a half inch light brown colored head.

The aroma consists of a dry dark chocolate character, which is borderline chalky. Definitely a hint of dark fruits, mostly dates to my nose.

The flavor has that nice chocolate background, which isn't too roasty. Some nice licorice notes follow through leaving a mild chocolate covered raisin note on the palate.

The body is a tad watery, though mostly a medium mouthfeel, which for a robust porter is adequate, I feel.

Overall not a bad beer by any means, I mean if I were to characterize any flaws, I would say the mouthfeel is a tad thinner than I would prefer and the hint of chalkiness in the aroma is slightly unsettling, but really this is a very nice beer!
