Had this in a shaker pint. Reviewed from notes.

An opaque caramel-cola body is served with only a thin white ring of foam around the glass. Pretty and glowing.

The Pub Ale's sort of vinegary and almost sour scent mixes with the tiniest bit of light coffee roast. It adds even more of a bitterness to the nose than the regular Pub Ale. A breadiness comes through, very much like rye bread. Sort of tangy and bready bouquet.

The palate has that base tanginess like the nose. The coffee does hit mid-palate, but it is very soft. And only seems to add more astrigency, not much roast. And the cocoa is also extremely faint, but plays more on the swallow, almost Tootsie Rolls. Really though, just that tangy and rye bread quality coming out strong.

The feel is very watery and truthfully, kind of flat. Not much creaminess to be had here being a cask offering.

I am pretty let down by this beer. I was really hoping to pick up on the coffee and cocoa notes, but it is very similar to the regular Pub Ale, maybe just a bit more tangy and roasty. And the feel was okay at best. I still really like the Pub ale, just nothing doing here.
