Appearance: Arrives hazy and amber, with a respectable head capping the liquid; a few shards of lace hang around
Smell: Toffee malt and earthy hops
Taste: Toffee malt, up front, with earthy hop tones building; the bitterness increases, somewhat, after the swallow, but the finish sure has a lot of malt to it
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation
Overall: I was expecting quite a bit more of a hop bill here, quite frankly, and I had forgotten that double also can mean double the malt; for my palate, the 8-Bit is a better beer

this is tasty beer. pretty intense on the hop side, not sure how they get off calling it a pale, its an ipa just about any way you slice it. havent had the 8 bit, so no comparison possible, but i liked this quite well. it has a great tall white head on it from the tap, and smells pine heavy and very bitter. to me, i get northwestern C type hops, centennial and cascade flavors, but it could be others too. there is a ton of hop character in nose and taste, more than just IBUs, although those are certainly present! piney like christmas, its not shy there, but there is also some malt to this, smells more like a red malt, a little toasted and sweet, but in the flavor its more of a rounded pale bready grain that i get. definitely pretty dense all the way through, but the hops are plenty big to stand up to the malt. bitter even before the finish, its pretty aggressive there, and for me it hurts drinkability a little bit. it also starts to fall apart a little bit when it warms up, but overall its a distinct and tasty beers. one of the better ones from tallgrass i have had this week.

Pours a pale and hazy light gold with a white head. There are a few ribbons of lacing left behind. The nose is mainly pineapple to me but I also feel like there is mango and honey present. There is a nice sweetness detected and a touch of piney hops. The taste is sweet with a lot of mango and pineapple but the bitter piney finish balances the sweetness nicely. This beer has a mouthfeel that is close to medium and a little bit of carbonation. This is a really well made and uniquely flavored DIPA. I really like it and would drink it again if I ever came across another can.
