I enjoyed this beer but it was not what I was thinking it would be.
Bourbon barrel notes are faint....what is not faint is a rich java like aroma and flavor which I did not expect....some cocoa evident....
Body is not textured like I'd expect an oatmeal stout to be..kind of slick and cola like...no head at all...looks like a cola in the glass.
All in all an ok beer but well short of what I expected.

Pours a mahogany color with a tan head. Smell had wood and some whiskey, vanilla and roasted malt Taste had muted whiskey with vanilla bean, cola and wood notes. Mouth feel was thin with medium carbonation a sweet finish with little barrel presence.

L- Pours a dark brown with a large mocha head that totally disappears instantly.
S- Bourbon, malt, vanilla bean abd cola.
T- not a big taster. Bourbon, cola.
F- Very thin for a bourbon stout.
O- Might be the lowest quality bbs I have had. Bad batch??

Canned 8/18/15; drank 9/7/15 @ the Yarchives.
Poured from the can into a glass.
Brown/black appearance.
A rough pour yielded a nice tan head which quickly (and loudly) dissipated; no lace.
Caramel popcorn & faint burnt leaf notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Caramel popcorn & burnt leaf flavors up front; smooth bourbon finish. An odd mix; worth trying but unlikely to inspire love.

slight foam which goes away instantly. smell is nice but a lean, weak-ish kind of smell, like with some low-quality ingredients.... taste has some bourbon barrel-ness to it but the body is thin and light and didnt seem to pick up a lot of time in a barrel, which is probably by design.... it's an easy-to-drink, thin, oatmeal cream stout with some redeeming properties, but certainly not on the level of grandeurship.... i remember really liking the vanilla non-barrel version a while back.....

12oz, canned on 09/17/15
A - thin tan head fizzles away quickly atop a cola-like colored ale
S - sweet nose with vanilla, chocolate, bourbon, oak, oats, and roasted barley coming to mind
T - chocolate, oats, cream, vanilla, oak, bourbon, earthy hops; quite sweet overall
M - medium body, very smooth and creamy but lower carbonation, finishes sweet with some bourbon and vanilla riding out the finish
O - quite sweet at times but the flavors are good with plenty of complexity. I'd rather take the base beer over this one, but it was fun to try.
