This beer pours black with a modest head. The aroma leads with smokey, salty bacon, followed by chocolate and cream. There is also a coffee aroma, right at the very end. The flavor leads with milk chocolate, followed by coffee and a heavy dose of smoke. I don't get much bourbon influence here, although the flavors are tied together in a way only aging can. THis is a very nice beer, not as explosive as many barrel aged offerings, but very pleasant.

poured thick and black with a tan head that didn't linger. no lacing to speak of.

this thing smells like dessert - it's butterscotch and vanilla and coffee ice cream. tastes like it, too.

if it didn't purport to be a barrel-aged beer, i'd think they brewed something amazing here. i'm looking for the oak or bourbon, though, and i'm not getting it.

mouthfeel is creamy and smooth, like i'd expect from an oatmeal stout. something is lingering on this one, though. like eating too much sugar.

i wouldn't have this with dinner, but afterwards, or on a cold winter day, this would be pretty great.

I loved it! All those incredible flavors and aromas coming from a very easy to drink 7% abv beer.

L: Medium brown in color with beautiful red highlights come through in this brilliantly clear and clean stout.
S: My favorite part of this beer. I love the way it tastes and feels, but the aroma is a wonderfully rich, smooth and sweet vanilla espresso bean. Wow, I could smell this all day long and not get tired of it.
T: World class.
F: For such a rich and complex beer, the feel is a light-medium body. Very easy to drink. Carbonation is perfect for the style.
O: Buy it, try it, you'll love it.

Smell is of smoke, chocolate, and roasted coffee beans. Taste is dark chocolate covered espresso beans, chocolate milk, lactose sweetness, and smokiness throughout. I don't get very much bourbon flavor, maybe just a hint of alcohol heat. It's almost like a session barrel-aged beer, and while it might not be a great bourbon barrel-aged beer, the blend of flavors is excellent.

Expecting more. extra in a trade. No smell of bourbon whatsoever. Color is more brown than black, and a little thin. Head dissipates extremely quickly.

This beer was super sweet. Too sweet for me and I love some sweet milk stouts. This had a creamy mouthfeel which was nice but was a little thin.

Poured from the can a dark brown with a thin tan head. No lacing with this one.

Aroma of butterscotch (more butter-like), vanilla, and oak.

Tasted of butterscotch, vanilla, and oak barrel.

Very light bodied for a stout with a thin mouthfeel and light carbonation.

Not really a fan of this one. Very thin and the Bourbon Barrel did little to impress.

Canned date of 08/18/15
Black color with an unusual soap suds head that quickly dissipated. No lacing is left down the glass. Disappointing appearance for an oatmeal stout. Would be a nice aroma if it had more barrel character. Smells like Buffalo Sweat that passed next to a bourbon barrel with all the roasted malt and the faintest hint of bourbon. Nice stout flavor of roasted malt that has a faint hint of smoke. As the beer nears room temperature the barrel character finally makes an appearance. Faint hint of bourbon and vanilla. The body is the best part of the beer. Full body, smooth texture, low carbonation all combine to make for an excellent mouthfeel.

Poured out a deep, dark brown with a small head that dissipated quickly. Smelled of bourbon, chocolate, vanilla and roasted malt. Lots of bourbon flavor with a rich, creamy maltiness.

No frills or thrills. It's a good stout but nothing to write home about. Not as boozy as other great stouts. A little on the lighter bodied side. Overall it's alright but I wouldn't go out of my way for it

Pours a dark chocolate color. Visually, seems a bit thicker than regular Buffalo Sweat. 2 finger khaki colored head dissipates quickly. Minimal lacing left behind.

Smells of cream, espresso, and medium roasted malt. Just a hint of bourbon.

Espresso on the first sip. Cream, bitter chocolate, roasted malt, and molasses. Bourbon is non-existent to start but barely there hints show up as it warms closer to room temp.

Body is thinnish with a bit of an acrid mouth feel. High carbonation.

This was a bit disappointing. I'd recommend the regular version over this. Barrel is almost non-existent.

Pours a dark brown with two fingers of tan head. Smells of their regular Buffalo Sweat, with no bourbon detected. Tastes like a slightly smoky, vanilla malt, once again lacking any bourbon on the palate. Overall, a decent beer that lacks the presence of bourbon barrel ageing. I wouldn't recommend this with the $13 price tag for four 12oz cans.
