Pours a slightly hazy yellow golden color with fizzy white head. Citrus, herbal and floral notes, and some grass on the nose; follows onto the palate. Light bodied. Finishes with citrus and herbal tones.

Appearance of light banana yellow with large white cap and good lacing.

Aroma is also light but complex being a mixture of floral spice and mild malt. There's also a touch of something like banana but I think that might be a suggestion of the appearance rather than an actual flavor.

Taste is a bunch of little things rather than a hit of any large flavors. At first I thought there wasn't much there until I realized the complexity of flavors were working so well together what I was tasting represented a whole rather than parts. Like walking through a meadow where various flowers and herbs were growing. Hops interplay but really show up in the dry, slightly astringent finish and aftertaste.

Texture is lighter side of medium with a rounded feel.

Songbird is an appropriate name for this brew. It reminds me of early Summer walking through a meadow where various flowers and herbs are growing. This sense even on a cold, wet, dreary Winter day. I like the taut, tart complexity of this one and could drink it anytime.

Served from 16oz can into tulip glass.
Pours a 2" foamy white head that drops slowly with scattered lacing. Color is cloudy orange with abundant streaming bubbles. Aroma of brett yeast, lemon, white bread. Mouthfeel is light to medium, slightly sticky with a damp lingering finish. Flavors of tart lemon, yeast rolls, bubblegum, ripe fruit, and cracker. Overall an enjoyable saison.

T: Similar to the nose. Lemon with peppery spice. A little bit of tartness in the finish. Some coriander and a little bit of barnyard funk in the end as well.

F: Very light and crisp. A pleasnat tart, dry finish.

O: A pretty light and drinkable saison. This may be one of my new go to saisons.

A slightly hazy, yellow-straw with a finger + of foamy white head that settles down very slowly. Minor amount of bubbles rising, and some spotty lacing down the glass. The aroma is very lemony, with maybe some stone fruit, and green apple. A slight amount of farm house funk and cracker malt. The flavor is the same with the lemon really cutting through, nicely. Light body, dry and refreshing. Good strong level of carbonation, It's like a Saison light.

from a can to a duvel stem
look; burnt hazy orange golden, great color, 1" head not much retention, leaves a film cover and a little lacing
smell; yeasty lemon zest banana, a little orange
taste; yeasty and citrusy, a little banana, sugar and funk with a dry, tart finish
feel; moderate small bubble carbonation tingle, dry, crisp
overall, I really liked the belgian yeast presence in a lighter beer with a more tart, dry finish

Large can, drink before dating on bottom

Hazed lighter orangy amber, light whisky head and fine lacing left on glass.

Light perfumey nose with some yeast and fruity esters.

More of the same on the palate, fruity, earthy, yeasty, some wheaty malt notes.

Decent complexity and drinkability. One of my favorite brews from Tallgrass. Worth a try

Smell is Belgian yeast, yams, and candied fruit. Similar to the mouthfeel, the smell is very soft and creamy. The taste is not much of a saison, but has notes of bread and candied fruit. It's missing the pepperiness and what I associate as a slight tartness with actual saisons. Refreshing but not representative of the style.

SRM of 4, towering white and fluffy head, which does not fade quickly and leaves wisps of smoky lace on the sides. Opacity is 70%.

Aroma coming in with rich Belgian farmer's yeast, gorgeous orange slice and marshmallow creme, a twist of lime and seltzer, and a hint of golden grains kissed by bubble gum.

The flavor is spiced and hoppy, but far from bitter - instead it takes a milder turn with seltzer and hop juices, wafting up hints of bubblegum, hay, scrubbed lime, and lightly baked grains. I could deal with some more sweetness, but that's not always how it's done. This falls well within specifications for a fine Saison.

The feel is rather gigantic, providing ample density to contend with the crispy carbonation presented here. The finish is wet and quenching, inviting more sips before picking up the tiller to farm the fields.

Overall Songbird sings a pleasant tune, one that has my tastebuds harmonizing and my senses tuning in. I'd have this again, it was a very pleasant experience.

This is a mostly clear gold color, effervescent, with a soapy white head that leaves clingy tufts of lace. The aroma is slightly spicy, with a modest twang and Belgian flavor. Medium in body and earthy in taste. From a tall can, this is a medium bodies, reasonably good, but not outstanding, brew.

Our first from Tallgrass. A slightly hazy pour, brilliant pale yellow in the bright sun. Good bright white head and lacing. Smell is fresh flowers, fruit and yeasty bread dough. Light taste, dry and crisp. Good for an afternoon on the deck in the sun of a spring day. Pleasant, lingering after taste. A good beer to have on a picnic, with its 4.8% ABV.

i think this is my favorite of the beers i have had from these guys this week. its a little something different from a saison, but its a good one. very pale and light from the tap, just a little haze, not a ton of head after a minute, but still looks attractive. very bright and sort of delicate looking. smells great, i get some minor citrusy tartness up front, a french type saison yeast strain thats not fermented too warm and definitely not overpowering, a mild white wheat base, and a slight peppery spice as well. the flavor is pretty condensed, its not so complex as a lot of these can get, and its not even as developed as the aroma, but the flavors are excellent and the proportions are spot on. the yeast is great here, they have done a nice job restraining such a potentially dominant strain, which i think is the greatest success here. notes of lemon and hops in the finish with a little twang, almost like a slight bit of lacto going on, maybe a partially sour mash? real subtly but its there. very well carbonated and incredibly light and easy drinking. its a great hangover beer, summer refreshing, or saison for the newcomer to the style trying to get a feel for what its all about. deliciously crushable.

Poured from a 16 oz. can into a Duvel tulip.

Appearance: Pours a hazy golden orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. Slight finger of white head that settles into a thin patchy layer.

Smell: A spicy and juicy Belgian Farmhouse style aroma. Belgian yeast with a scent of peppers, coriander, clove, and farmhouse funk. Citrus hop scent of orange, lemon zest, and apricot. Also some fruit hints of banana, pear, and apple. Also some hints of grassy hops. Bready hints of wheat, straw, and cracker. A pretty solid aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a spicy and juicy Farmhouse style taste with zesty notes of citrus and spice. Belgian yeast with notes of white pepper, coriander, clove, and farmhouse funk. Citrus hop notes of orange, lemon, and apricot. Belgian style fruit notes of pear, banana, and apple. Some mild notes of grassy and herbal hops. Malt notes of straw, cracker, and wheat. Moderately tart and bitter. A pretty nice Saison taste.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with a moderate level of carbonation. Crisp, juicy, smooth, and drying..

Overall: A pretty solid session Saison. Nice mix of spices and citrus fruit notes.

Aroma: Belgian yeast, white pepper.

Taste: Sour apple skins and white pepper, sugary sweet malt base with hints of banana.

Mouthfeel: Medium to light, dry.

Overall: Missing the citrus notes this is supposed to have, otherwise a very sweet beer.

L: Pours a golden straw with mild yeast haze initially, settles out quickly. Huge soft pillowy head that disappears as the beer warms. No lacing left.

S: Sugar, citrusy hops, some coriander

T: Sweetness up front, like a lightly toasted english muffin, with sugary notes. Citrusy hops with some spicy bite. Not very strong on the herbal/citrusy aroma at all.

F: Low in carbonation for a saison.

O: Not really feeling this beer, would be nice if it had a bit more bite and more carbonation. I'm sure they will tweak it with more feedback.

I love to find a sessionable saison in a pint can. This one is cloudy with a straw yellow appearance. Nice aroma of grains, wheat and yeastiness. Light bitterness and a touch of tartness balance it all out.

What a lovely Belgian table beer. It falls somewhere between Duvel (for the toasty and vanilla character) and Saison Dupont for the herbal edge. It doesn't have the depth of either, but this is a great 4.8% Belgian style, and I imagine a great summer beer. It's dry, drinkable, well balanced, and interesting. Likely my favorite beer from Tallgrass.

Pours a hazed honey color with a finger of cream colored head. Stellar lacing & good head retention, drops bright over time

S: Yeastyness, pears & a little lemon sneaks in as it warms

T: Phenolic notes, pears, a little earthy funkiness, a little apricot & coarse bready sweetness up front. Pears, phenols & a little bit of green apple peel as this warms. Finishes with a little white pepper, coriander, lemon, lemon zest, yeast & pear

MF: Medium body with delicate carbonation

A very drinkable, true to style example of a Saison
