Brewed by:
Tallgrass Brewing Company
Kansas, United States

Style: Milk / Sweet Stout

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
We love this beer here at the brewery, and think you will have one of those “I’ve never-tasted-a-beer-like-that” kind of moments when you try it!

What we really like about this beer is the smoothness that brewing with cream sugar brings to the palate. This smoothness balances out the copious quantities of roasted barley used in the brewing process to create a rich, complex, and delicious beer. If you have not been a stout drinker in the past, give this beer a try. It might just change your mind about how dark beers should taste. It tastes so rich, but is surprisingly easy to drink!

Poured from a can into a glass.
Appearance: Lovely. Incredibly dark, great head of foam with just a slight tint of brown.
Smell: Unassuming beer in scent. Notes of milk, cream, and oatmeal, with just a hint of alcohol. Taste/mouthfeel: Incredible. Creamy dark oatmeal and roasted barley. It is so dark and thick that it felt almost chewy in texture and taste. Notes of chocolate and slight caramel come through part way into the glass. The creaminess lingers in the mouth long after I expected. Overall, spectacular beer; one of my personal favorites.

16oz can, Drink By 07/25/14
L - near black with a creamy tan head, good retention
S - cream, chocolate, roasted barley, sweet
T - chocolate, roasted barley, caramel, cream, vanilla, oats; nice balance
F - very creamy and smooth, easy to drink, medium body, slight peppery prickle on the tongue on the finish
O - very well constructed creamy oatmeal stout/oaty milk stout? I'll buy this again at the right price. It is always available as a mix 6 ($9.99) at my local grocery store, which is nice.
