Style: Milk / Sweet Stout

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
We love this beer here at the brewery, and think you will have one of those “I’ve never-tasted-a-beer-like-that” kind of moments when you try it!

What we really like about this beer is the smoothness that brewing with cream sugar brings to the palate. This smoothness balances out the copious quantities of roasted barley used in the brewing process to create a rich, complex, and delicious beer. If you have not been a stout drinker in the past, give this beer a try. It might just change your mind about how dark beers should taste. It tastes so rich, but is surprisingly easy to drink!

Moderately sweet with some burnt/coffee aftertaste. Not heavy. Maybe kind of light for a stout. Good. Not great but good.

Smooth and creamy but a tad thin... Lots of flavor but Something seems off to me... Chocolate and caramel with a strange finish on occasion....

"Best by 5/16/15"; drank 3/16/15 @ the Yarchives.

Poured from the can into a glass.

Black/brown appearance.

Big dark tan head; nice lace.

Oats, cream & bakers chocolate notes in the nose.

Creamy medium mouthfeel.

Cream, oats, milk chocolate & faint dirt flavors up front; cream soda notes on the finish with a hint of carbonation bite. An enjoyable, flavorful session stout.

Poured from a can into a snifter. BBD of 11/6/16.

A: Pours dark cola brown in color with a one inch, foamy, fizzy, khaki colored head with minimal retention. Minimal khaki lacing throughout.

S: Mostly notes of toasted malts, coffee, chocolate, and asian spices.

T: Taste is mostly toasted malts and oatmeal accompanied by hints of chocolate, coffee, milk, and cinnamon. Very subtle hop bitterness.

F: Medium bodied, thin, smooth, and somewhat crisp with a decent amount of carbonation for a stout.

O: Overall, a decent oatmeal stout. Very drinkable. Somewhat thin and a little lacking on the flavor to be considered a great stout. Would try it again, but probably won't seek it out personally.

Made a recent trip to Omaha and decided to pick up something local. This didn't exactly qualify as that, but it sounded very good in the liquor store so I picked it up anyway. This beer is opaque and black in color with light carbonation visible are the very edges of the beer. The head is thick and creamy, dissipating slowly to a thin lacing that is retained. The color of the head is a dark khaki. 4.25/5 The aroma is very sweet and roasty with notes of dark chocolate, milk, cold pressed coffee, light vanilla, grassy hops, char, and tobacco. All of these notes seem to come out at once, all vying for attention. The dark roasted maltiness and milk seem to be the heavy hitters in terms of aroma here. 4/5 Dark brown sugar comes out on the tongue right away before notes of dark toasted wheat bread and dark roasted malt come out. The milk, dark chocolate, and cold pressed coffee seem to make their appearances at a similar time right in the middle with vanilla backing them up. There is a bit of char and tobacco present, adding a nutty/woody/herbal flavor before the grassiness of the hops comes into play. The bitterness is light but noticeable with a very light lingering bitterness that dissipates quickly. 4.25/5 This is a heavy bodied stout that has a significant carbonation burn up front that disappears fairly quickly before a light drying comes into effect. There is a light lingering dryness after swallowing but it is not off-putting. Surprisingly enough, this beer seems to disappear from the palate entirely quite quickly. 4/5 For an oatmeal stout, this beer is surprisingly dry and lighter than expected. There is some creaminess but not to the extent that I expected per the style. Very enjoyable beer with or without food (I've done both). I could easily session this beer despite it being heavy. 4.25/5
