Poured from 16 oz tallboy can into an oversized wine glass. Best by 11/23/14 on edge of bottom of can. Received through the thoughtfulness of my little brother Greg.

A: Peachy orange amber with 1-2 finger, off-white frothy head with good retention and a thin line of lace at the top of the glass.

S: Strong pine resin, dank grassiness, and sharp citrus grapefruit rind and lemon on a lightly caramel but mostly bready malt base.

T: The flavor is less bready and malty and more sharply bitter than an APA should be. The malt base has mostly medium caramel but not enough crackery or bready character to balance the overly sharp citric bitterness. The hops component is lemony, grapefruit pith, piney and dank and bracingly, almost minerally bitter when tasted with the not sweet enough maltiness. Yeast and alcohol are not present -- it is a little too much bitterness despite the low IBUs. The caramel malt base and the sharp hops don't work well together for me.

M: Clean but very, very dry with medium-high carbonation and light-medium body.

O: A pretty good beer but way to minerally bitter, maybe just a less than optimal match for the light-medium crystal malt contribution. Glad I tried it, but I like a more mellow hops presence and a more rounded maltiness in my APAs.

Poured from a pint can, with a drink by date of 09/18/14,into a Delirium tulip. Pours a semi hazy golden yellowish orange, with one finger of fluffy off-white head. Spotty lacing left behind as I sip. Smells a bit like a wit style beer, with some spicy herbal hop notes. The taste falls a little flat for my preferences, leaning more towards a strong malt backbone and not enough hops. The mouth feel is right to style for this pale, nice clean finish with a slight hop bite. I would've rated this one higher, but the store owner informed me that this was supposed to be a hoppy pale ale. Not a bad beer at all, just not what I was expecting.
