From the 12 oz can in a snifter. This nice little brew pours a murky brownish black
with a very nice head of tan foam that subsides to a thick ring, thin light layer, and showcases
some nice light creamy sudsy lacing. Nose of roasted malts with light vanilla and cocoa with
cola notes intertwined. Flavors lightly exceed the nose with medium vanilla that is more pronounced
that the nose, light coffee and cocoa, and a subtly char touched malt that satisfies the stout lovers
quest. Decent mouth feel; medium lightly coating body, lightly slick, and a nice cocoa and vanilla
laced finish.

Overall a solid brew that improves with warmth

Cheers

Very dark brown color with a thick thin caramel head that disappears completely.
Delicious aroma with predominant but at the same time elegant notes of dark chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla and mild Bourbon.
Flavor with notes of vanilla, cinnamon, sprinkle of cocoa, powder milk, a hint of Bourbon, Coca-Cola, ginger and lemon drops. Dry aftertaste with a mild bitterness.
Medium to full somewhat creamy body with appropriate carbonation.
Flavorful Stout with clear vanilla, cola and cinnamon notes. Bourbon is a bit too mild.

12 ounce can, drink by 03/10/18 stamped on the bottom of the can. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head that stuck around for a while. There's also a decent amount of lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like vanilla, roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate, oats and some cream. Taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but there's also a bit of coffee noticeable too. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's slick and smooth with a good amount of carbonation. I think it's a nice stout, certainly worth a try if you've never had it before. Not sure how much it was since this can was given to me from a friend of mine.

Beer pours a very dark coffee color with a small tan head. The smell has cocoa, vanilla and roasted malts. The flavor is a,smooth weak coffee. I didn't get any strong vanilla flavors. Overall another really good stout.

This beer pours a dark black with a large mocha head. The aroma features strong roastiness, dark fruit, berries, and marshmallow. The vanilla comes through more strongly in the flavor, with milk chocolate, dark berries, and a hint of roast. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and sweet, with fairly strong carbonation. Overall this is a nice little beer, but the dessert flavor is more enjoyable than the aroma, but it does lack a bit in depth.

Look: dark brown, bubbly, no head from a hard pour, looks like a coke

Smell: malts, chocolate, hint of vanilla

Taste: roasty, malty, coffee, chocolate, good amount of vanilla

Feel: sharp and clean, well carbonated, keeps it refreshing

Overall: looks pretty meh but otherwise a very good beer, definitely better than their regular buffalo sweat, and lower abv so you can have a few if you're so inclined

A pint can poured in a nonic pint glass.

Look- Pours a root beer colored brown revealing a generous two fingers of creamy tan foam. A trace of lacing is left as it settles.

Smell- Vanilla, dark roast, tobacco and chocolate cake.

Taste- Vanilla, chocolate cake, tobacco and cola.

Feel- Thin and unremarkable for the style.

Overall- If there was such a thing as a session stout, this would qualify. It's not a bad beer, just lacking in all facets for the style to make it memorable. Highly drinkable if you crave a stout and don't want the buzz.

I don't get a whole lot of vanilla in the nose or the taste. Usually it's the exact opposite and way too much vanilla. I like the oily appearance but falls short in flavor.

16oz can with best before date printed on the bottom of the can. Dark black color with large creamy light tan head. Taste and aroma mix sweet and roasty notes with a touch of vanilla and a creamy mouthfeel. Overall, decent but not something I'd try again. It's a little sweet without much body that I hope for in a stout.

I picked up a can of Tallgrass's Vanilla Bean Buffalo Sweat last week at The Lager Mill for $1.69. I tried the other two versions of this beer and I wasn't to impressed, but I thought I might as well try the third one, so lets see how it goes. 2017 Vintage. Poured from a 12oz can into a imperial pint glass.

A- The can looks nice, it's got a nice design to it and it's just a little eye catching. It poured a nice dark black color that didn't let any light come through and it had a finger and a half of fluffy slightly creamy lighter tan head that died down to a thin ring that eventually faded away and it left just a little bit of spotty lacing behind. This is a pretty nice looking stout, but I wish it had better head retention.

S- The aroma starts off with a higher amount of medium sweetness with malts being the first to show up and they impart a roasted malt, chocolate, dark malt and light coffee like aroma. Up next comes some doughy yeast and creamy oatmeal like aroma and it's followed by the vanilla which is on the lighter side, but it's still a little noticeable. The aroma is nice, but I wish the vanilla came through a little more and I wish it was more robust.

T- The taste seems to be similar to the aroma and it starts off with a higher amount of medium sweetness with those dark roasted malts still being the first to show up and they show up a little more than they did in the aroma while imparting all the same aspects. Up next comes a little bit of doughy yeast and creamy oatmeal flavors and that's followed by the vanilla which is noticeable, but still on the lighter side. This is a nice tasting beer, but I wish the vanilla showed up more.

M- Smooth, crisp, slightly creamy, a little velvety, on the slightly thicker side of being medium bodied with a medium amount of carbonation. The mouthfeel is pretty nice and it works well with this beer.

Overall I thought this was a nice beer and I thought it was a pretty solid example of the style, it had pretty much all the key aspects that I was expecting, but I still wish the vanilla came through more to make it more noticeable. This beer has nice drinkability, I could drink a couple, but it might start to wear one me after that. What I like the most about this beer is the appearance and the mouthfeel, they are both pretty nice and the highlight of this beer. What I like the least about this beer is the lightness of the vanilla and I wish the aroma was a little more robust. I don't think I would get this beer again, but I wouldn't turn one down and I don't think it's a must try, but if your want a lighter oatmeal stout with some pretty light vanilla flavors then it might be worth checking out. All in all I liked this beer, but I didn't love it and I think if the vanilla was bolder it would be a pretty good beer. It's not my favorite Tallgrass beer and it's a solid example of the style. Solid job guys, but there's still some room for improvement with this beer.

This is disappointing. Flat, watery, an unimpressive. not much flavor to go with and smells like some cheap lager. Tastes like a cheap stout. I don't know how it's rated so high. Another craft beer failure.

Poured a dark black with a thin, one-finger tan head that lingered but didn't leave a lot of lacing. The smell is dark malt and a little sweetness, but I'm not picking up much vanilla. The taste follows but with more noticable vanilla flavor. The mouthfeel is slightly thin and highly carbonated, but exactly as expected for a 5% abv stout. It's a pleasant stout that easy to drink and would be nice on a hot day.

Dark brown pour with a big brown head. Slightly burnt aroma. Tastes like a good vanilla latte lots of coffee and vanilla flavors standing out. Also has some nice roasted malt flavored that come out as the beer warms. Thinner body than expected. Finishes with a sweet lingering vanilla flavor.

Pours dark brown with a creamy, medium, tan head that doesn't last long.

Smells of coffee, chocolate, roast malt, very faint hint of vanilla

Tastes vanilla, roasted malt, coffee, light chocolate. Finishes semi sweet with a vanilla linger. Lighter full body. Lower creamy carbonation

16 oz can from TN with a BB date stamp of 24 March 2017.
Pours blackish-brown with a sizable, fluffy tan head that settles to a durable top coat. Soapy lacing.

Aroma: roasted grains, vanilla, coffee, chocolate and a faint touch of smoke.

Flavor: lots of vanilla; at the threshold of too much. Roasted grains. Chocolate and and coffee in the aftertaste. Medium-high sweetness for style.

Overall: with sweet vanilla and faint coffee overtone, this makes a fine after dinner beverage.

12 ounce can into pint glass, best before 5/12/2017. Pours clear very dark brown color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big milk chocolate, cocoa, creamed coffee, vanilla, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted brown bread, light nuttiness/herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and vanilla/lactose notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk chocolate, cocoa, creamed coffee, vanilla, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted brown bread, light nuttiness/herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/roast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, creamed coffee, vanilla, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted brown bread, light nuttiness/herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and vanilla/lactose flavors; with a nice roasted bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Minimal dryness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and slightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is awesome. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is a delicious milk stout! All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and vanilla/lactose flavors; very smooth and easy to drink, almost refreshing. Very flavorful with an awesome mouthfeel for the low ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

S - Aroma is roasted malts, coffee and light vanilla.

T - The taste is roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate and vanilla.

M - Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Creamy mouthfeel with a soft dry finish.

O - This is solid stout. The flavors are not overly sweet and at 5% ABV easily drinkable.

A nice dark beer with a creamy tan head. The aroma is a nice roasted malt that has some coffee notes, oats and vanilla. The taste is big roasty malts and oats with chocolate and coffee components and a generous amount of vanilla flavor. This is a really nice stout with a big flavor. I thoroughly enjoyed this beer.

Poured into a snifter. An opaque black color with a thick and foamy light tan head. Great retention and nice tracks in the glass. A nice vanilla aroma with cocoa, milk, and roasted malt. A smooth, milky taste with vanilla up front that was balanced with a nice chocolatey and roasty stout flavor. A creamy and smooth feel. Very nice.

Poured from a 16oz can into a tall glass. Not my ideal, but I'm not at home with my own glasses. Poured a dark chocolate brown with a minimal head and a fair amount of lacing. The vanilla is the first thing you notice, but it's not overpowering. After the vanilla, the sweetness of the milk stout style begins to shine thru. The carbonation is just about right for the style and coats very nicely.

Pours blackish-brownish-red with a well carbonated but minimal head that soon disappears

Aromas include roasted barley, vanilla, coffee, lactose and a bit of chocolate

Taste is lots of vanilla with roasted barley and coffee. Sweet

Overall it's not too bad of a beer. Just be ready for sweet

Poured from tap into shaker, minimal tan head, recedes quickly, minimal lacing. Dark brownish/black in the glass, no light gets thru. Smells faintly of roasted malt, chocolate, good wiff of vanilla and some lingering roasted coffee. Taste initially semisweet chocolate with a Simi bitter finish, vanilla goes a long way in taming that bitterness. Mouthfeel is standard across all of these variants, a little light, but it rings in at 5 percent so I am fine with that. Easy drinking stout

A - Solid dark body, black with a hint of brown and red, a short tan head that fades quickly, some lacing, and visible agitation from the carbonation.

S - Vanilla is out front. Roasted malts, coffee and chocolate, appear in a supporting role.

T - Following the nose, with strong vanilla. The roast is mostly cocoa, a hint of coconut, and a mild close with brisk acidity.

M - A bit thin. There is a creaminess that is pleasant.

O - A solid stout, and the vanilla is definitely a welcome additional touch. The feel is a bit more full that the standard Buffalo Sweat, and it makes for a more satisfying brew, although it remains too light, in my view.

Pours black with some head which is nice. But for me that is where the fun ended. Smell was overpowering of cinnamon. I like it but not THAT much in my beer. No bourbon flavor at all which was a disappointment. I had it cold however but I don't think I can wait for it to warm to see if anything else comes out. Just too sweet for me

Appearance: Pours with a huge, frothy head after an impressive bubble show; the liquid is the color of espresso

Smell: Coffee dominates, with roast and vanilla tones

Taste: Roast and coffee, up front, with vanilla and lactose building through the middle; as the beer warms the sweeter tones and the vanilla become more pronounced

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation

Overall: Milk stouts aren't my favorite but this one is a decent example; the vanilla and sweetness is tough to deal with in a pounder can, though
