A nice dark beer with a creamy tan head. The aroma is a nice roasted malt that has some coffee notes, oats and vanilla. The taste is big roasty malts and oats with chocolate and coffee components and a generous amount of vanilla flavor. This is a really nice stout with a big flavor. I thoroughly enjoyed this beer.

Poured into a snifter. An opaque black color with a thick and foamy light tan head. Great retention and nice tracks in the glass. A nice vanilla aroma with cocoa, milk, and roasted malt. A smooth, milky taste with vanilla up front that was balanced with a nice chocolatey and roasty stout flavor. A creamy and smooth feel. Very nice.

Poured from a 16oz can into a tall glass. Not my ideal, but I'm not at home with my own glasses. Poured a dark chocolate brown with a minimal head and a fair amount of lacing. The vanilla is the first thing you notice, but it's not overpowering. After the vanilla, the sweetness of the milk stout style begins to shine thru. The carbonation is just about right for the style and coats very nicely.

Pours blackish-brownish-red with a well carbonated but minimal head that soon disappears

Aromas include roasted barley, vanilla, coffee, lactose and a bit of chocolate

Taste is lots of vanilla with roasted barley and coffee. Sweet

Overall it's not too bad of a beer. Just be ready for sweet

Poured from tap into shaker, minimal tan head, recedes quickly, minimal lacing. Dark brownish/black in the glass, no light gets thru. Smells faintly of roasted malt, chocolate, good wiff of vanilla and some lingering roasted coffee. Taste initially semisweet chocolate with a Simi bitter finish, vanilla goes a long way in taming that bitterness. Mouthfeel is standard across all of these variants, a little light, but it rings in at 5 percent so I am fine with that. Easy drinking stout

A - Solid dark body, black with a hint of brown and red, a short tan head that fades quickly, some lacing, and visible agitation from the carbonation.

S - Vanilla is out front. Roasted malts, coffee and chocolate, appear in a supporting role.

T - Following the nose, with strong vanilla. The roast is mostly cocoa, a hint of coconut, and a mild close with brisk acidity.

M - A bit thin. There is a creaminess that is pleasant.

O - A solid stout, and the vanilla is definitely a welcome additional touch. The feel is a bit more full that the standard Buffalo Sweat, and it makes for a more satisfying brew, although it remains too light, in my view.

Pours black with some head which is nice. But for me that is where the fun ended. Smell was overpowering of cinnamon. I like it but not THAT much in my beer. No bourbon flavor at all which was a disappointment. I had it cold however but I don't think I can wait for it to warm to see if anything else comes out. Just too sweet for me

Appearance: Pours with a huge, frothy head after an impressive bubble show; the liquid is the color of espresso

Smell: Coffee dominates, with roast and vanilla tones

Taste: Roast and coffee, up front, with vanilla and lactose building through the middle; as the beer warms the sweeter tones and the vanilla become more pronounced

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation

Overall: Milk stouts aren't my favorite but this one is a decent example; the vanilla and sweetness is tough to deal with in a pounder can, though

Super dark, with a strong roasty and vanilla aroma. Pours with a thick, tan, rocky head - but reduces fairly quickly. Taste is thick with vanilla, with the bitter malty linger of a traditional stout.

Run of the mill black, not midnight black or dark brown, but right in the middle. Small beige head in the 1/2" range. Mild roasted malts, vanilla heavy aroma, enjoyable.

Taste, smooth, not thick, tempered sweetness, substantial vanilla. ABV in check, mouthfeel silky, sweet and vanilla predominant. Oatmeal smooths it out well, not a lot of roast and bitterness in this one. Better than the base beer.

Once again, we have a CAN courtesy of my local, in-person trader, tone77, who CAN show up on my porch whenever it is CANvenient for him. He brings such great beers and is outstanding about returning the empty CANs for further transfer to Jeff Lebo. Viva The CANQuest (tm)!

From the CAN: "Oatmeal Cream Stout brewed with Vanilla Beans"; "Est 2007"; "Fresh Beer = Best Beer. Please keep refrigerated."

I CAN follow directions and since this was up in the rotation, I figured to add it to The CANQuest (tm), beginning with a Crack! An inverted Glug resulted in a pseudo-cascade, followed by two-plus fingers of dense, light-tan head with reasonable retention. Color was Black/Opaque (SRM = 44) with garnet highlights at the edges. Nose had a roastiness underlain by something that I could not identify. I am sure that it was the presence of vanilla beans, but I would be unable to swear to it. Mouthfeel was thin, especially for the style. The taste was the polar opposite of my last stout. In this case, it was really sweet, unquestionably vanilla, but WAY too sweet for the likes of me. It also had a slight chocolatiness, but either way, the sweetness was really cloying. Finish was sweet, a combination of vanilla and chocolate, more like a dessert beer than I really care to drink.

This beer pours an opaque dark brown with a thick yet fizzy, one finger mocha head. Retention is solid and there is no lacing. Smell is much nicer in this version than the regular. Rich roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, coffee and cream are all prevalent. Taste is the same. Feel is light, smooth and creamy. Overall an excellent beer. Very light and drinkable, but still so flavorful.

Pours a dark brown color, with a head which dissipates quickly.

Smell is fairly conventional, predominantly of malts.

The taste does not surprise, it tastes like a vanilla-infused cream stout - and it's great. It's straightfoward all-right, but the combination between the milkiness of the regular Buffalo Sweat, and the present yet fairly subtle vanilla is a killer. I really enjoyed the original, and I really enjoy this.

APPEARANCE: Very dark brown, Finger+ of tan head that dissipates in a few minutes and leaves a ring on top of the beer. Medium amount of tiny bubbles streaming up the pint glass.
AROMA: Chocolate, vanilla, and coffee. Smells very pleasant.
TASTE: Again, it's Vanilla, coffee, and chocolate. I pickup the oatmeal in the flavor not so much the aroma. Nice.
FEEL: A bit creamy, then you get some nice carbonation to push the flavors around. The body is on the thinner side, not at all chewy, well it's 5% abv.
OVERALL: Just as advertised, lots of vanilla, chocolate, coffee, and a touch of the oatmeal. Pretty tasty stout.

Nice American stout. Lots of coffee comes through. The vanilla is subtle and the overall flavor profile is more sweet than bitter. Super drinkable. Love it!!

Look: It's fantastic. Jet black beer sits below a thin, tan head. The head dissipates rather quickly.

Smell: it seems I can just smell a malts, which is pleasant. I cannot detect anything else.

Taste: malts mix with vanilla. As the taste edges away, the vanilla takes a larger presence before disappointing. Good, but not great.

Feel: overall, a smooth, quality mouth feel. I wouldn't say it's the best, but it certainly doesn't disappoint in this regard.

Overall: enjoyable beer! I rather like the packaging. It's a quality brew that I would certainly recommend.

Served in a 12 oz snifter.

I'd rather have a bowl of cinnamon toast crunch with Kahlua, because that is exactly how this brew tasted. I enjoy other variants much more, but this one is too sweet for my liking.

A top-notch stout. The vanilla not only helps mild out any potential graininess that could come with the stout variety, but it also brings with it a great level of sweetness.

16oz can, drink by date of 4/15/16. Pours hazy brown with a medium sized tan head. Smells of roasted malt, cinnamon, vanilla, oats, and some subtle earthy/piny hops. The taste follows closely with malt, cinnamon, hops, and vanilla. Some sweetness. Very thin body for the style and above average carbonation. Overall, it's got a pretty good flavor profile, but it desperately needs a better mouthfeel.

Tallgrass Vanilla Bean Buffalo Sweat, Buffalo Sweat Stout brewed with vanilla beans, Brewed and Canned by Tallgrass Brewing Company, Manhattan, Kansas. 1.057 OG, 20 IBU, Alc. 5.0% by Vol.

Dark brown, nearly black, with intense carbonation, under a light tan head, slowly reduced to a tight ring.

Aroma is sweet vanilla, met quickly with cocoa and cream. That's about it, but that's all you need. Beautiful blend.

Tasting it: smooth and creamy. Buffalo Sweat is a milk oatmeal stout to begin with, with plenty of chocolate malt flavor inherent. Add the vanilla, and it's just another tasty treat, soft, and supple and utterly easy to drink. Medium-bodied, mellow mouthfeel. Little bitterness, moderate sweetness. Lays down nice and easy on the palate.
Delicious.

All the flavors were there. It was the base beer of Buffalo Sweat with added vanilla. It tasted good, but left no impression on me. I found myself bored drinking it. There was nothing that made me want to go back for more.
