Congratulations to HUB on their 10 years of awesomeness!

And what a spectacular beer to accommodate such a milestone. Though it pours a bit dark, I can only assume the amber hue comes from the Pinot Noir barrels influence, which is quite alright with me. Lovely notes of the wine, as well as just a mild touch of wood play perfectly with a well executed base Saison. Elements of hay, freshly cut grass, peppercorn, spices, earth, and sweet bready grain infuse wonderfully with the wine contributions. The barrel seems to give it a dry finish, yet very refreshing. Unfortunately, this was too easy to drink and share. I'm going to have to try and hunt down a few more bottles. Cheers.

Good, but two years old and still sold by the brewery without mention of its age, which is disappointing. At this time, this is a good and ester forward style of saison, but with little remaining nuance of the barrel or wine character at this point.
Pours a white foam, with somewhat longer than average retention, fading to a thick ring around the perimeter of the glass. Lacing is very good, with patterns clinging to most sides of the glass. Body is a light golden orange color, with light bringing out slightly brighter golden orange hues (SRM 6-7). Transparent.
Aroma is sweet and fruity, with fairly notable banana and juicy fruit bubblegum esters, along with a more modest note of mildly dry, woody character, as from barrels.
Flavor is predominantly banana and juicy fruit bubblegum ester forward, with undertones of light woodiness from barrel and some very faint hints of dry red wine character. Front: sweet, fruity esters of banana and assorted tropical fruits with a touch of woody barrel character and faint dry vinous flavors. Mid: a balanced mixture of light woodiness from barrel, faint hints of dry vinous character, banana and juicy fruit bubblegum ester, and moderate pale malt sweetness. Back: primarily fruity (banana and juicy fruit esters) and sweet (as from pale malt) with a touch of mild bitterness and spiciness from hops. After: lingering banana and juicy fruit esters predominant, with light bitterness and spiciness from hops, and faint dry barrel woodiness.
Beer is medium-light in body, with carbonation of medium intensity, resulting in a mostly foamy mouthfeel (2.3-2.4 vol CO2). Closes semi-dry, with light stickiness on palate and lips.
