Hopworks IPA- 6.5% abv

A: very orangey amber with head that stays in a lazy sud layer on top.

S: Orangey hops, breadiness.

T: Complex, fruity flavor. Sweet citrus and bitter peels, with breadish malt backing. Well balanced.

M: juicy, sweet malt lingers on the tongue. A little bitter to drink quick but it’s complex enough to chill with for a bit.

O: One of my go to beers living in inner SE PDX just minutes from the brewery. Brewed very close to here and widely available around. Very citrusy and complex but also balanced. 4.75/5.

I can't believe I haven't rated this beer I have had it so many times. Clear amber orange with three fingers of thick white head that lasts about ten minutes. Plentiful lacings.
Smell is floral and fruity. A bit of malt sweetness.
Taste is big fruity pink grapefruit some tropical fruit and plenty of hop bitterness. A bit of hop resin character slides in toward the end. Really a bold and tasty IPA.
Mouthfeel is dry bitter with a good amount of carbonation.
Overall a fine IPA that I can buy almost anywhere. Thanks HUB.

A- This beer has a great head, very thick and long lasting. There isn't anything better then head that lasts a long time. Except when you want it to be over with to enjoy the goodness that is the beer. (This would have been going the wrong way if I said liquidy goodness.) Great lacing too. The beer itself is a nonhazy golden color.

S- Great hop smell, it hit my nose, pow, as I was pouring the beer. Very clean smell with grapefruit notes to it.

T- Now as I was enjoying this I was talking to my wife about how some West Coast pale ales seem almost as hoppy as this IPA. However, the hop taste does linger for quite a while where I don't get that from most pale ales. But back to this one, it is clean and refreshing, the hops are tasty.

M- It has a slight chewyness to it, that I'm digging right now. It is very cold out and this is the greatness of a hoppy beer but with a nicer body to compliment the colder weather.

D- Very drinkable, other then the fact that spending the weekend with the inlaws can make any beer more drinkable, this one is very solid.

All around this is just a solid quality brew that you can't go wrong with.

Had on-tap at HUB in Portland, OR. Poured a yellow/orange color with a very thin off-white head that left very spotty lacing. Aroma was floral/earthy hops, citrusy hops, grass and a slight malt sweetness. Taste followed the nose though I also noticed a bit of grainy flavor in there.

Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes dry from the bitter hops. VERY interesting/complex yet well-balanced IPA. Enjoyable for sure!

Pint from the source at the end of our first day in Portland, reviewed from notes on my cellphone, golden orange color with some red tint, 3/4 inch slightly off white head with retention, some lacing, aroma consists of grapefruit, floral accents with a lot of dandelions, herbal accents, toffee, citrus, and pineapple, flavor is full of floral accents, some neutral malt in the middle with lots of toffee, finish has a large amount of hoppiness with more citrusy fruits than pine or anything, goes from floral to orange peel, nice rounded hop flavor nicely balanced too, dry, citrusy and floral mouthfeel, moderatate level carbonation, medium bodied, could drink a lot of this stuff, taste is a little on the weak side for a west coast IPA but that is not necessarily a bad thing, no alcohol in the flavor, pretty refreshing after nearly a two mile walk here, would like to drink again which is why it is a good thing I have a few bottles in the fridge, recommended

22oz bottle poured into a bells tulip

A: Pours a hazy amber yellow with a nice 2finger white head. Minimal head retention with excellent lacing.

S: Some hops (pine/resin), sweet malts and something I can't put my finger on. Kinda funky smelling. Maybe a hint of citrus.

T: Hops up front with a smooth malt middle and a slightly dry finish.

M: Medium body with Medium Carbonation.

O: I was expecting more. This bottle is a ~2months old, I imagine the flavors would be more profound if said bottler were newer. In it's current state, it is still very drinkable.

22 oz bottle consumed at Summer 2010 Chillin' and Grillin' Fest, The Big, OR, 8.22.2010.

Finger and a half of white head, medium dissipation with signficant lacing. Deep gold/amber clear body, multiple trails of carbonation. Pretty big tropical fruit/bubblegum hit up front, floral and grassy hops for balance, significant malt bill, some breadiness produces a relatively dry nose along with caramel malts for sweetness. Big hoppiness on the tastebuds, bitter, resiny and fruity, asserts dominance over the malts in the flavor profile, quite tasty and balanced. Medium full mouthfeel, good effervescence. Really good drinkability, the ABV is quite well hidden. One of Beervana's best IPA, which means BAs from other parts of the country need to try this award-winner. Highly recommended, especially fresh.

Poured into 10oz. Poured a nice light gold color with a tall white head that had good retention and decent lacing.

The aroma was great, pine, floral, citrus and a touch of bittering hops were all present. Not much of a malt base though. The flavor had a enough malt for the hops to grow from, and all those hop aromas transferred nicely to the tongue.

The body was way too thin, even for a style that's not known for it's body. Drinkability was very good, I killed a 22 easily would happily drink this on tap if it were local to me. Overall, a very nice version of a Northwest IPA. Worth trying if you see it.

Big light off white head settles into a nice lacing above a clear copper-bronze colored beer.

Citrus, pine, and fresh grass hops aroma that seems to be on the lighter side.

Nice hops taste that is not overwhelming but definitely there with some citrus, some pine aspects and a little bit of fresh grass attributes, giving this IPA a pleasant IPA taste.

A dry slightly bitter hops taste aspect to the aftertaste of this medium bodied beer.

A decent beer definitely worth a try if you are into IPA's or the Portland beer scene.
