I used to work for this brewing company & have consumed more of this beer than most others. Finally reviewing it. Orange/amber color, slightly hazy. Bubbly orange cream head, recedes to a thin film, streaky lacing. The aroma is light, orange, honey, caramel malt, and some herbal/earthy notes. The flavor is similar, with tangerine and grass notes as well. Very smooth and balanced. The hops aftertaste is just right. An excellent beer!

16 oz. can poured into a glass, the beer is a chill hazed apricot with a fluffy white head.

The beer has pine, citrus and grains on the nose.

The beer is bitter fitting its 75 IBUs but is also a bit out of balance. The bitterness is pine, citrus and something metallic. There is some malt sweetness but it is quickly swept away only to emerge again mid-glass. This is a bit of a slippery one. It seems out of focus then veers back in and then slips out only to become balanced again.

The mouth is oily and coating and may be the best aspect of the beer.

I would have this one again just to see how my initial impressions stacked up over multiple tastings.

on tap at their bike bar spot, a delicious and very classic northwestern ipa, with a big tall white head over a fairly clear slightly orange but rather pale body with excellent carbonation. it smells like weed, there is a serious fresh sticky dankness to this that also has elements of pine sap and grapefruit peel. just enough bitterness in the flavor, but it is also counterbalanced really well by just a dash of sweeter, richer grain, not toasty or caramelized or anything, not overdone, but just enough for body and balance. the hops take the day though, juicy and bold, with an orange peel note, lots of sticky pine, and an odd cleanness not common in beers with this kind of hop complexion. its somehow all resolved by the end, not much more than a casual bitterness on the palate after the swallow, pretty impressive flavor and mouthfeel explosion and clean up here, it all happens pretty quick too. good carbonation really helps with that. perfect abv for the style too, low enough to drink a bunch of. really good stuff with their pizzas there, we had a lot of fun here and this was one of the better beers we had from these guys.

Wow. Is this a 6.6% really.... man be careful cause this seems like a 0.0% abv.

Never had a beer that was so clean and smooth that it simply doesn't have any bite to it like this ipa.. no bitterness whatsoever.
That being said the flavors are dim also because of the low bitterness.. (75 ibu) btw
You simply get the happiness to this beer and it's great. So easy drinking.

Nice orange glow to this one, just what you want in an ipa appearance, thin off white head 1/2". Solid amount of dry hopping and a mix of proprietary and traditional American c hops.

Doesn't skimp on the bitterness or hop taste and mouthfeel here. Notice this has been amazing at the brewpub and lesser in the bottles, really fades quick maybe, I dunno, they don't bottle date. Lots of citrus and pine trees in this one, a little bit of crystal malt.

Slightly hazy golden color with creamy, white head. Intense dank, vegetal hops on the aroma. Chives, dill but also some ripe tropical fruits. There is also a slight nail polish remover hint but it's not really offensive. Taste starts also really hoppy, the same dank notes from the aroma. The bitterness makes its appearance only in the finish, not harsh, just right for a legit IPA. Body is really smooth, the carbonation just right. Really good IPA overall. Modern hops, smooth body and a good amount of bitterness.

I can't believe I haven't rated this beer I have had it so many times. Clear amber orange with three fingers of thick white head that lasts about ten minutes. Plentiful lacings.
Smell is floral and fruity. A bit of malt sweetness.
Taste is big fruity pink grapefruit some tropical fruit and plenty of hop bitterness. A bit of hop resin character slides in toward the end. Really a bold and tasty IPA.
Mouthfeel is dry bitter with a good amount of carbonation.
Overall a fine IPA that I can buy almost anywhere. Thanks HUB.

Hopworks IPA- 6.5% abv

A: very orangey amber with head that stays in a lazy sud layer on top.

S: Orangey hops, breadiness.

T: Complex, fruity flavor. Sweet citrus and bitter peels, with breadish malt backing. Well balanced.

M: juicy, sweet malt lingers on the tongue. A little bitter to drink quick but it’s complex enough to chill with for a bit.

O: One of my go to beers living in inner SE PDX just minutes from the brewery. Brewed very close to here and widely available around. Very citrusy and complex but also balanced. 4.75/5.

Tasting notes: Light golden color, minimal head. Aroma of fresh grass, citrus. The flavors pop nicely yet somehow convey a refined, almost delicate character despite the freshness. Low key lemon-lime citrus, yellow grapefruit ... Quite dry and tart with some herbal, almost minty notes, fresh-cut grass ... Flavor profile develops nicely over time. Sweet malt backbone lurks in the background. Seems light in terms of mouthfeel as well. Certainly one of those brews that gets better over the course of a pint, after an unassuming start.

A- Light golden amber with slight off-white head, minimal lacing
S- Cooling wet pine, slight tart lime, fresh cut grass
T- Cooling refreshing pine is dominant here with a grassy sunshine finish, very assertive
M- A Little under carbonated, good malt body though
O- A little too over assertive on the piney/ grassy flavors and very little citrus backbone

Squealer poured into tulip. Nice head that faded to a ring. So e lacing. A golden orange color with a slight haze. Smells like grapefruit and pineapple.Light bodied. Taste are very much the same as smelly with a bit of hoppy, resinous flavor at the end. Overall a very good beer.

Really quite solid. Not as hop abrasive as something like, say, Sixpoint Resin, but along those lines. Feels a little thin, but the smell and taste sing IPA. I'd drink it again and again. Oh...and organic to boot!

22oz poured to tulip

Pours a hazy amber. 1 finger of head disappears immediately. Hop particles, I assume, left in the bottom of the bottle

Faint citrusy aroma

First note is kind of grassy, Rounds out with a full sweetness and orange and sugar cookie. Decent bitterness and some resiny pine hiding in the aftertaste

Seems a little slick on mouthfeel... more carbonation would help

Overall: I really wanted to love this beer, but none of the elements struck me as outstanding. Head / head retention is an issue for me, and the initial grassy hit in the flavor is overpowering

16oz can into tulip

Appearance - Slightly hazy golden-amber, 1 finger head isn't exactly ample, but retains nicely and leaves good lacing.

Smell - Hops front and center with some perfumey citrus and tropical fruit, a bit piney and dank too, hint of sweet caramel maltiness in the background mingling nicely.

Taste - More balanced that I thought given the nose: Hops are still up front with ample citrusy grapefruit, tropical fruits like mango and pineapple, and musty dank pine needle. Backing the big-time hopping up is a malt backbone that complements the hops really well: bready, toasty, and clean with a good hit of caramel sweetness to balance perfectly. Finishes fairly dry with some pine resin bite and moderate bitterness.

Feel - Carbonation level is on the low side, creamy smooth medium body. Could use a touch more carb to add crispness in my opinion.

Overall - Simply a damn good IPA, and good enough to be outstanding in a sea of average-good IPAs. The hallmark of this beer, as with most great beer, is outstanding balance. When you add to that a tasty hop blast (Citra/Mosaic/Amarillo mix perhaps?), you just can't go wrong with this NW IPA.

SMELL: Citrus, Jasmine tea, grass, herb.

TASTE: Pine, fresh grapefruit, herb, tea, generally citrus. Light honey like pale malt body. Moderate bitterness.

FEEL: Medium bodied, well carbonated, smooth, easy to drink.

OVERALL: One of the better IPA's I have had from the can. Light, hoppy, crisp and refreshing.

L: Crystal clear gold with tinges of amber a thin head on top. Decent lacing and very little carbonation activity.

A: Floral hop aroma of grapefruit rind, peach and some pine with a clean, nutty maltiness backing it. Classic Amercian IPA.

T: A smooth bitterness upfront, moves into hop flavors of grapefruit and peach with some spicy and piney earthiness. The malt brings in fantastic balance to the hop flavors, helping give a backbone to the beer and really increase the drinkability. A medium body provides a great base for the flavors and the hops and slightly bisciuty malt flavors linger on with a dry finish.

Overall, a top-tier Northwest IPA. The flavors are bold and perfectly balanced, and the beer is unbelievably drinkable. This is a must try.

16oz : pint glass

Poura clear golden yellow with a foamy white head.

Citrusy, lightly piney aroma and taste.

Fairly standard, medium body, foamy carbonation.

Nothing ground breaking, just a very well done IPA. Something I would definitely enjoy again.

Thanks to rudzud, surprise date on the bottom of the can, 2/11/14, not the freshest.

Pours a decent slight creamy fizzy 1/2 finger head that fades at a fair rate, very light lacing, golden honey orange color.

Nose nice citrus, little orange and a mild creamy note brings a creamscicle like aroma, mild generic fruit and touch of apricot like, hint of a nice juicy malt base, touch of candied orange peel. It has a decent hop aroma but flashes of it fading, perhaps not as fresh as it should be.

Taste brings a decent malt base at first, caramel, little creamy, toasty reddish malt and faint toffee note with little sweetness but not much. Then hops, again citrus and generic fruit but not a ton of hops. Little candied orange, mild orange creamscicle again, touch of zest and grapefruit flesh which comes out more as it goes. Hint of resin. Finish is dry but a touch sticky, fair bitterness, little grapefruit fresh and orange zest, mild fruit, and a little sweet caramel malt.

Mouth is med bod, little creamy, nice carb.

Overall decent, nice malt profile but doesn't play as well with the hops, which seems like they were better when fresh but decent hop profile.

Bought in Portland, Oregon

A&S: Lively transparent tangerine colored beer. Head pours a little less than a finger, but retains in a thin layer and leaves a speckling of lacing. Lots of citrus in the aroma, but not super powerful. Some maltyness.

T&M: Similar to the aroma lots of citrus more of a malty backbone present than the aroma would lead you to believe. Extremely drinkable, surprisingly smooth. On the high side of medium bodied and the low side of medium carbonation.

Overall: Another fine IPA from Oregon. I have a little beef with majority of the breweries out there being so IPA centered, however I find it hard to complain when they are great tasting beers. Not mind blowing, but pretty good... pretty .... pretty.. good

Received as an extra in a trade and poured into my Duvel tulip. 16oz can.

A - Poured a very nice crystal clear dark golden hue with a one finger creamy white head that faded to leave a nice light lacing and a thin blanket with a fluffy halo.

S - Aromas of lightly bitter pine, citrus peel (orange, grapefruit), super light malts. This thing is mostly wonderful citrus notes.

T - Taste is note quite as good as the nose. Bit more malts, light caramel and malty sweetness, nice light pine, good citrus (though a touch generic) with some good grapefruit rind.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated. Wish it was a bit more as it feels just a little watery.

O - Overall, a solid IPA offering from the west coast. Quite tasty and very easy drinking. Solid.

This is a amazing IPA. Very fresh and tasty. Picked up a 22 oz bottle at Portland Int.
While in town I wanted to visit this brewery but ran out of time so I was stoked to see this in the airport.

Poured a cloudy amber hue.
Smelled of a light citrus
Mouth feel was perfect. Not to light and not to heavy.
Taste is amazing. Light carbonation really hits you with the citrus. A little bit of pine finishing with a nice bitterness
This is one of the best balanced IPAs I ever have had. A must have in the Portland area.
