a great coffee stout here, unique as a base beer, good complexity in the malt, and then dosed with good coffee too, and i enjoyed this from the pint can last night, really smooth and drinkable, nice to have something this robust in such a modest abv, not enough of these out there in the game, and on one of the first chilly evenings of the fall, this seems right on, gets me ready for colder weather, and i will almost assuredly be buying this delicious stout again. these guys have sold me on their brewery with all the delicious fresh hop stuff this year, gave them the buy on this one based on how good those have been, and i was rewarded handsomely. a nice little spiciness to this, black in shade but not super dense or impenetrable to light, a big creamy head on top like espresso crema, somewhat fizzy looking for the style, good depth, light smoke and earth and roast and dark soil, minerals and burnt toast, dark cocoa, and dried fruit, raisins, and tons of rich coffee warmth. very little sweetness to it, which lets the coffee ride, seems very fresh to me too, no oxidation or fade to the java at all. maybe a light english yeast or something to this, not yeasty or anything, but not invisible on the ferment to me either, i like what it adds. i dont know that i can appreciate all the different grains in here individually, but the collective is excellent and this really would stand out from the crowd, even without the coffee. i like the strong coffee on the back end and finish though, it makes this cozy and wintery, some nice bitterness in the roast too. an excellent stout here, love the low abv, one of the better beers ive had from these guys now.

Pours black with a finger of dense caramel-colored foam. Head retention is okay. Aroma is bitter coffee layered over mild chocolate, and roasted, toasted, and earthen malts. It has a biting naturalness. Flavor profile is roasted, toasted, caramel, and earthen malts. Coffee is an afterthought in the flavor profile, and when it hits, comes off as bitter, dry, and thin. Mouth feel is medium-thin with a watery-finish that comes off smooth and thin. Overall, coffee is present, as per the label, but not in a promising way.
Served in a 12oz snifter from a 16oz can.

Aside from the slightly metallic aroma and flavor, this is a pretty good and well made everyday stout. Plenty of roasted presence, and a smooth creamy feel make it very easy to pound. Cheers!

Purchased at the brewpub in Vancouver, WA. Fresh beer- canned just two weeks ago. An interesting stout. Pour is pitch black, but not syrupy. Aroma is all grains, almost like sticking your nose in a bin full of granola. Taste is a little one-dimensional....not bad at all, but not overly complex with light bittering. I'd put this on the porter side of the spectrum, if that means anything, where a porter is a drier, lighter but still very dark beer. I can pick up on a few coffee notes but nothing stands out. There are a large number of much better stouts out there, IMHO.

16oz can doesn't boast that it's '7 Grain', only that this is a Survival Stout, malt beverage brewed with coffee. Can born in September 2016, drank in February 2017, served in a snifter.
A: Pours brown from the can, and ruby colored light does show through the beer while in the glass. Light tan head recedes fairly quickly.
S: Earthy coffee beans, light to medium roast, and freshly ground. Solid aroma without being overpowering. Underlying sweetness, hints of vanilla. Faint pepper skin aromas.
T: Follows the nose with earthy coffee and espresso bitterness, balanced with a toasted, roasty malt character. Espresso bitterness lingers but isn't off-putting. Ghostly suggestions of a bready sweetness, possibly caramel? Char/roast shows up in the aftertaste.
MF: Doesn't feel like a big beer but drinks slightly bigger than the 5.8% abv the can boasts of. Light to medium body with enough carbonation to move the espresso bitterness across the tongue. Semi-dry finish.
O: Nothing wrong with this beer, it executes as it should. Not my favorite coffee beer, coffee profile isn't my favorite, probably won't revisit, but it's not bad.

Has equal parts brown and black. Thin beige head. 1/3". Plenty of roasted notes bringing out coffee tones.
Taste is the same way, but the roast is not such that it creates a bitter acrid feeling, it still has plenty of smoothness. Oats? Very drinkable, not over the top, absorbs the alcohol. Just a real sessionable chewy no frills stout that is quite crushable.
