Notes: Walking a fine line of sweet malt and assertive hop character. A hop presence so enticing it truly is a work of art.

A: Pale yellow slightly cloudy with a tall off white head. Nice retention with some solid lace.

S: Aromas of nice sweet malt. Pine, and mild grapefruit. Mild floral hops.

T: Malty with a nice dose of hops. Hints of caramel and mild bread. Lots of floral hops with dashes of wet hay. Citrus and Pine notes round things out. Not aggressive, drinkable.

M: Medium in body, smooth tasty.

D: Nice and drinkable. Pretty solid.

Pours a hazy murky darker amber color with a big fluffy cream colored head that falls slow and leaves some good gobs of lace.

Aroma is nice and fruity soft mango, sweet pineapple, and touches of sweet malts. Smell is nice hoppy but not overly bitter smelling.

Taste is like the nose but more starts dank fruity, moves to light tobacco almost vegetable notes . Finish fairly bitter hop resins coating the mouth. A nice deep dank IPA just like the color.

Mouthfeel is only medium smooth carbonation makes for easy drinking.

Overall an enjoyable IPA that I would probably buy on occasion if it was available locally.

Poured from a 12oz can into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep amber color with a large foamy off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick but spotty lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains grassy hops, citrus and caramelized malts.

T: The taste starts out with a burst of grassy hops bitterness that is followed by mildly sweet flavors of caramel and citrus. The malt character is hearty and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly hoppy and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, good kick, good representation of style, this is a solid IPA to drink for a while.

12 oz can. Hazy deep orange color, two finger head fades slowly, rings of spotty lace. Aroma full of melon, toasted bread. Similar taste with sweet malt and melon, plenty of hop bitterness comes in, herbal, oniony, piney. Very solid IPA, lots of flavor.

Can date 6/3/15!

Look: Orange and hazy

Smell: Yum! this could be REALLY good!

Taste: Quick alcohol up front, soon over-taken by a robust IPA that delivers the goods with balanced hoppiness that goes on and on with luxurious splendor... Oh, and a mellow bitterness that ascends from the palate to the olfactory allowing further rumination is so desired.

Feel: Don't care, taste is in my sweet spot and i like it. If pushed, I'd say "smooth"... If shoved, I'd say "silky" on a sip, "velvety" on a mouth-full, and "velour" on a hasty gulp (which you can do, cuz it's a big can!)

Overall: The first Coastal offering I tried was a Carne Fire (meh...no defining character) The HopArt however, is worlds away a superlative brew for me (taste, character, boldness). Which, I guess attracts me to that style. Right now, If I can't find an Enjoy By, or Shane's Big DIPA, or a Pliney, or a Hercules, then hopefully, a HopArt will be available. Then again the HopArt may be my first choice!

Poured from the tap at the Renaissance Hotel in Charleston, SC. The appearance is a cloudy orange color with a large white head. The aroma is a very good mix of malt and hops. The taste matches the aroma

Batch 596 Canned 12/21/17 into an IPA glass. Orange with crimson highlights and a three finger fluffy tan head that retains well and leaves a soapy lacing on the side of the glass. Pine, mild citrus, and malts on the aroma. The taste is well balanced between the citrus/tea of the hops and the subtle sweetness of the malts. Borders on IIPA. The mouthfeel is medium to heavy, with moderately low level of carbonation. A tasty one for folks who like some balance in their IPA.

Have had it several times, but basing this review on the HopArt I had on tap at Gene's yesterday -

This beer looks great (to me, at least) in the glass: a nice, hazy/cloudy deep orange - light copper; sudsy head that leaves a fair amount of lace on the glass. Aroma is dominated by citrusy / floral hops, with touches of fresh cut grass. Taste is of grapefruit peel, a little resin, very fresh, herby / spicy, a touch of caramel malt is there, too. Mouthfeel is about medium-bodied (maybe a little on the lighter side of medium), with great carbonation. Drinkability is pretty good for an IPA of this strength - pretty refreshing for 7.7%. This is great stuff - one of my favorite IPAs - glad I can get it fresh at the local bars or growler at the Chas Beer Exchange!

Thanks goes to kkipple for this bottle. A nice extra in our recent trade.

Bottle split and poured into my standard pint glass.

A: Golden yellow, one finger of off white head, tons of sticky lace

S: Mild citrus hops, just a hint of malt, rather muted overall in the nose

T: light citrus and pine, sweet malty finish, nothing really exciting

M: Medium body light carbonation

D: Overall decent. Nothing real memorable.

Can > Tulip Pint

A - Clear orange gold with a thick foamy two finger head, medium lacing.
S - Nice aroma, lots of grapefruit, floral notes, tangerine, big resinous hop notes, caramel malt.
T - Fairly balanced, caramelt and bread malt are pretty predominant then you get some big bitter citrus and pine, light floral notes, orange juice, some grape.
M - Kinda chewy, lingering bitterness, a little more intense than your average IPA.
O - Aroma is good, but it doesnt match up in flavor.

Thanks to funkydelic for this one. Poured from a 22oz. bomber labeled with a 4/20/10 born on date, into a Sam Adams perfect pint. Shared with a couple of my housemates.

A: Moderate pour yields a .5 finger fine white head with decent retention. Beer is a cloudy, unfiltered orangy-yellow. Lacing is spotty at best with little cling.

S: Outstandingly outrageous nose of citrus, grapefruit, pine, grass, and hops. This one really blows me away and is one of the most aromatic and pleasant I've come across in a long time. My mouth waters at thoughts of the upcoming hop-liciousness...

T: Pine, astringent hops, citrus, earth, and grass. Hoppy bitterness becomes more and more pronounced through the middle to the end. Definitely more of a west coast style IPA. Big and bitter. Messy finish with a big kick that leaves a very hoppy aftertaste that lasts for a long time.

M: Medium bodied, slightly carbonated, and smoother that I would like. Slightly dry in the mouth with an extremely messy finish and lingering aftertaste.

D: Being a fan of balance in IPAs, I'd definitely say that this is a one and done for me. Too hoppy and the smooth body just makes the flavor stick on the tongue even more. Still, I appreciate it as a finely crafted beer of its style. Seek this one out if you're a hophead.

I drank this from a 22oz bottle into my Orval glass.

The beer pours a very murky opaque ugly light brown. There is a light white head.

The aroma is light hops along with the taste. Pretty hoppy as well.

Pretty decent overall but nothing I would search out.

Thanks for another one Ryan!

Looks ok, straw golden with slight haze. There's not much to the aroma... take that back, there's nothing actually. Only reason it gets 2/5 instead of 1/5 is that the aroma is not disgusting.

Crisp and somewhat flavorful taste on a medium body. Good carbonation. You can tell that something is wrong with an IPA if crispness is its best feature.

Neither hops, not art; this beer is brewed with mediocrity.
