Warm copper amber in color, SanTan brewers have re-defined this classic English Ale. An intense bitterness derived from the distinct citrus/pine flavor of Pacific Northwest Hops. A dry, crisp malt character & aggressive alcohol dominate our I.P.A. and make this bitter beer a hop-head’s passion!
Hops: Columbus, Amarillo, Nelson Sauvin, Galaxy
Malt: Two Row Barley, Wheat, Caramel 80, Munich, Victory
Yeast: American Ale

A: Slight cream colored head with a nice dark amber color. Darker than otehr regular ipas.
S: Pine and citrus. Classic american IPA. Slight caramel sweetness comes through.
T: Bitterness and spiciness right up front. Mild sweetness on teh back end but the bitterenss really sticks around. The fresh pince dominates.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours lightly hazy, medium to dark coppery amber with a very fine, whipped cream textured, three finger white head with great retention and rocky lacing. Aroma of biscuit malt, piney and citrus hops, pine and orange. Flavor is pale and biscuit malt, piney and citrus hops, pine, orange, grapefruit and a little caramel; assertive hop bitterness in the finish, as promised. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A malty, well hopped IPA. The hop profile leans West Coast, dominated by pine and citrus. Malt is an old fashioned hybrid of NA malt and more biscuity English style ones, an uncommon style that I enjoy seeing. It seems rare in the Northwest now, and most examples see to be brewed in the more easterly (and now southwesterly) regions. The head is awesome looking like a cross between whipped cream and a nitro pour; inviting. Rich color and good mouth feel. The flavor is a little unbalanced, with some hop astringency in the finish, but that comes with a satisfying alpha oil bitterness. I liked this one.

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours orange red with a small white head. Smells of citrus and floral hops. Tastes of citrus and floral hop notes, some sweet grain. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, light bodied. Overall, a very good beer.
