SanTan Hefeweizen is an unfiltered Bavarian wheat bear, effervescent and sweet, with an unmistakable banana-clove character. Often paired with a lemon or an orange, SanTan embraces this American enhancement of the beer however we still believe it is the best the way it is brewed.

Rating from notes. Consumed September 2013. "Good nose and mouthfeel but underwhelming flavour and look. A serviceable take on a hefeweizen, though given the highish ratings it's possible that my can wasn't as fresh as it could be."

Cloudy yellow pour. nose is virtually nonexistent. drinkable but definitely more mainstream quality rather than a special craft. Some tastes of banana as well.

12 oz. can:
Pours clouded golden yellow with a foamy white head that dissipates to hardly a cover. A little lacing sticks.
The smell and taste are of a typical American Pale Wheat Ale with enough of a banana/clove character to give a nod towards a traditional HW. Mild banana with a clove spicy touch in the finish.
On the thin side, though has some creaminess to it. Smooth enough to work.
A decent attempt at a traditional HW. Like I wrote above, leans more towards an APWA with a mild banana/clove HW character. An easy drinker. Not a bad brew overall!

Hazy, golden orange body; head starts out thick and creamy but quickly fades tow a thin, wispy ring around the top of the beer. Some fruity, almost orange-like esters in the nose; peach and pineapple. Fruity flavor with some banana and clove presence; twinge of bitterness. Medium body; coarse; a mild tartness; somewhat juicy yet dry overall.
Certainly not a classic German hefeweizen as there are additional notes of citrus and it seems just a bit bitter. But the beer seems fitting for a warm, late Spring/early Summer day. Satisfying.

Pours a hazy gold with a white head. Smells of banana, clove, yeast, and wheat. Tastes of banana esters, ground clove, yeast, wheat, and sweet malt. Medium in body and carbonation. Overall a pretty good hef.
