Poured out as a murky brownish amber color, the head was minimal and left no lacing. The aroma of blueberry and wheat were strong on the nose. The taste is the beer has some good blueberry flavors upfront then it faded into a wheat aftertaste. The mouthfeel was on the lighter side with some subtle carbonation. Overall is was an average fruit beer. Decent for summer drinking.

Fegley's Brew Works "Blueberry Belch"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle, "BTLON: 042717" and sampled on 082417
$2 @ Weis, Conshohocken, PA

Notes via stream of consciousness: A rough pour brings up a finger-plus thick head of pinkish white foam over a hazy golden and amber body with a touch of a pinkish sheen. The head has already, unfortunately, dropped. Blueberry greets you in the aroma and I'll assume it's real as the bottle label reads "ALE BREWED WITH BLUEBERRIES". It's pleasant, not too strong, not too sweet, and welcoming. The flavor follows with a blueberry flavor that's neither sweet (it's sweetish) or tart within a basic golden malt base. I hate to say it right now, before we've even really begun, but it's a one-trick pony, and to be honest, we are really through at this point. The blueberry is nice but it's not brilliant, and the beer beneath it is just a base for it. Modestly bitter but dry in the finish - there seems to be a light touch of acidity to it. It's medium bodied and gently crisp across the palate. It's better than a lot of the blueberry ales I've had, and I'm glad they didn't go heavier on the wheat because sometimes that just muddles things up, but it remains a fairly basic fruit beer. On the other hand, what is that big music fest they have in Allentown?... I sure wouldn't mind having a few of these on a warm day out in the sun while relaxing and listening to music. Nicely balanced, refreshing, and easy to drink.

Served on-tap at Cork City Pub in Hoboken, NJ

A: Pours a mostly clear medium amber in color with moderate amounts of visible carbonation and some definite purple/red wine highlights. The beer has a finger tall sudsy biege head that reduces to a medium sized medium thick patch, a very thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer, and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of sweet blueberry with some natural and some artificial hints. There are some lighter notes of sweet grainy malts underneath.

T: Upfront there was a moderate flavor of sweet blueberry that eventual shows some hints of tartness. Underneath the blueberry flavor there is a lighter amount of sweet grainy malts.

M: On the lighter side of medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.

O: Not a bad blueberry beer - not the greatest that I have tried and certainly not the worst. The flavors and aromas are mostly of natural blueberry though it is a touch sweeter than I would have expected. Definitely a brew for a hot summer day.

On tap at the Bethelehem Brew Pub.

Poured a deeper and cloudy amberish color with an averaged sized purple tinted white head. Aromas of fresh blueberries. I like the blueberry aroma. Tastes of blueberries with some graininess.

Notes from 09/08/07.

3-way blueberry beer taste test. 1-Sam Adams Blueberry Hill Lager. 2-Fegleys Blueberry Belch, 3-DuClaw Blueberry Citrus Wheat."
Appearance, clear purple, no head.
Aroma, yep,it?s blueberry.
Taste, I have to say not bad. Can use a bit less blueberry, and a bit more beer. There are hints of cherry, lemon, lime. Feel, a touch flat.
Overall, a good summer drink but lacking in beer qualities.

Funky hazed purple with the thinnist ring I've ever seen on a freshly poured draft beer. Retention, lacing...no way.

Aroma is nice, fresh blueberry pulp and light wheat. Light tartness, the berries definately are real, no artificial junk detected.

Flavor similar. Very fresh blueberry and wheaty tang with soft crackery malt and a hint of pepper. Again you can tell this is real fruit.

Body light and slick, looses carbonation quickly. Tastes nice but the body and presentation need tweaking.

A somewhat cloudy golden amber colored brew topped with a small comvering of white foam. The nose is made up of a mild berry aroma as well as pale malts.

There is only a very faint fruity aroma of blueberries. It really does not make up the flavor, but it does provide sweetness. There is a big array of pale grains and bready flavor. It is light, crisp, and a bit refreshing. It is definitely a good summer brew, but it needs a bit more flavor and body.
