16oz can served in a sample glass. Canned on 05/08/25. Bought it two days ago at Chuck's Hop Shop Seward Park.

Pours clear dark gold with a medium or smaller head, fairly still-looking. Smell is rich grainy lager with earthy bitterness in the background, switching spots when I change the focus of my attention. Something honeysuckle-y, maybe some corn bread.

Taste is way more on the bitter side than I expected. Screams of earthy and grapefruit rind bitterness, but powerful honeysuckle and sweet bread, strong lager tang.

Mouthfeel is smooth, maybe a bit heavier than I would have expected. Overall, very tasty beer, though wouldn't necessarily call it refreshing.

16oz can from Tavour. Bright, clear golden, active carbonation, fizzy head. Deep bready, grainy aroma. Taste hits with a mouthful of bready grains, sweet with a light bitterness. Almost chewy feel. Highly enjoyable from start to finish.

16 oz can purchased at Community pint, in spokane, washington, for a price I do not now recall. According to the stamp on the bottom of the can, this was canned on .

Poured into a glass, this was a slightly chill hazed golden Amber color, with a decent sized off white head. In the beer itself, many small bubbles could be seen rushing skyward throughout its tenure in the glass.

Nutty, grainy nose, along with a whiff of floral hop scents.

Soft, floral grainy and hoppy flavor, with a bit of herbal bitterness in the finish.

Light to medium body, with a mouth feel that is relatively soft.

Cloudy golden body with an off-white finger of foam. Nose is laced with soft pretzel like german yeast, flowers and leafy hops. Potent but not complex. Taste has leafy hops looming large, yeast is next, little lemon and honey behind. Good but not great as the hops are ore west coast than germany, and the complexity in the botanicals are lower. Feel is bright and yeasty in a satisfying drying motion, somewhat airy, bittering finish

 

Pours a clear yellow amber with plenty of foam in the Stella Artois goblet. Alfalfa in the nose with fresh bread. Aromatic and tangy, but surprisingly dry finish. Bitter herbal hops with a hInt of sulfur. I would agree that this is a difficult style to get right. Too sweet is the usual problem. In this case the bitter hops seem too prominent in the endless aftertaste. From the 16 oz can dated 04/12/22.

 

This one is just simply nice. It’s almost like a beautiful, subtle caress from the one that you love. Yes, this sexy babe just stares at you and you don’t feel intimidated at all. You feel welcome like when a mama bird brings a few worms home. I like it and I will enjoy it.

Unfiltered golden body, has a sweet caramel backbone, fairly heavy bready sweetness as well. Big floral notes, dry and mildly herbal on the otherwise fairly sweet finish. An interesting balance of sweet bock and crisp noble hops, a bit heavy which is good in the late winter time in the PNW.

 

Look: Clear burnt orange with a huge off-white head that billows, then pulls back leaving great lacing
Aroma: Pilsner malt, crackers, wet hay, some light toffee notes, herbaceous, grassy, and floral hops
Taste: Huge breadiness right out of the gate, joined by floral and herbaceous hop notes, some toffee in the middle and then finishes with another punch of pilsner malt. Super tasty and a crisp, clean finish while only lightly dry
Mouthfeel: Big and bold but not into the ‘chewy’ zone, medium-high carbonation and a clean finish
Overall: Very tasty Heller Bock here and to be expected from IMO an exceptional lager brewery. Blurs the line on ‘American-made’ German style and not only one of my favorite seasonal beers from these folks, but one of the top tiers, if not the standard for the style brewed in the U.S. A must-try if you are into Pale Bocks. Delicious

Canned 4.23
Beautiful pale golden body that is mostly clear but does have a little bit of particulate to it. Beautiful finger or two of slightly more shaded than white head. Settles to a nice complex archipelago with nice lacing.

Nose is pronounced with elements of bready doughy honey malts, some grassy and lightly floral hops.

Flavour is a wonderful melange of the above, but with more nuance and depth. The malts bring more of the honey forward, with some grainy/doughy body to it, almost kind of reminds me of honey nut cheerios (not like a 1:1, but that's the memory in conjures). Hops still have some faint grass and a bit of a floral light note, but also some earthy pungency and a little spicy bite.

More heft to the body than I expected based on appearances with a good balancing spate of carbonation. Finish lingers with bitter floral/earthy/spicy hops and a little bit of that honey note still as well.

I liked this one even more than I expected to. I've heard its praises sung repeatedly, but this is a rare example of the real thing not only living up to but possibly even exceeding expectations.

 

 

 

Golden honey-amber colored body; very light carbonation; one-finger thick head, dense, creamy and sticky. Nicely appealing bread crust aroma and toasted grain. Toasted grains also make a taste appearance; bright and sparkling hop bitterness quickly develops and lingers; gentle sweetness. Medium body; crisp; nice bite to offset the muted sweetness.

This maibock is a very pleasant and tasty beer. It delivers a nice malt backbone with a prominent but not over-the-top hop bitterness. Nicely done...
