Hop DebacleHop Debacle
Notes: Hop Debacle is our new spring seasonal. Brewed in the spirit of New England-style IPAs, this beer will pack in hop aroma and flavor, while leaving out the hop bitterness.

Most of the hops are going into this beer after the boil, in the form of massive dry hop additions... 6 pounds per barrel to be exact. Denali, Citra, Eldorado, and Galaxy hops will swirl into a ridiculous alchemy of awesome.

Expect a big fruity hop nose, on a soft and slightly cloudy body. We got a little nuts with this one, hope you enjoy it!

Among the most superb IPA's I've tasted. Dramatically less bitter than some other examples, including some I adore - Fantasy Factory, Stone IPA, et cetera. Just barely sessionable, which I don't say about most great IPA's (most aren't)

As a Wisconsinite who loves NE IPAs, excited for this one! Also in case it isn't updated yet, ABV is listed as 5.8% on O'so's site.

A cold 12oz bottle dated 5/2/17 pours an opaque hazy yellowish orange. Looks like orange juice. Single finger head that leaves a significant lacing.

Aroma is melons, tangerine, mango, grapefruit, and hops. Not as potent as say, DDH, but definitely the same general idea.

Taste is very fruity, juicy, and mellow. Not like some bitter bomb IPAs that hit you like a train. Lots of orange and mango. The hops are there but more subtle than other beers of the style.

Feel is light weight, lightly carbonated, and juicy. As others have said, very sessionable.

Overall, a very enjoyable NE style IPA. Just as great as some of the better known of the style. So glad to see a brewery from WI brewing this style.

Appearance: Orange juice, super cloudy/opaque orange, good head.

Smell: Mild fruitiness, citrus.

Taste: Citrus, balanced, orange juice, slight citrus rind bitterness. Low carbonation.

Overall: Saw this on a trip to Madison and picked up a 6er. They call it a "fuzzy IPA" and it is obviously trying to hit the NE IPA style. I haven't had any of the NE IPA standouts, but this seems to be pretty close to those descriptors. Super cloudy, moderate feel, low bitterness. Tastes good to me!

On tap. Super hazy orange juice color. All the haze.

It's juicy and fruity but still fairly hoppy. Mango and grapefruit with floral notes and pine. Solid, but definitely not NE level.

Pours a slight, white head. Bright, intense hop aroma. Hazy, straw color. Starts with a very bright, intense citrus rind flavor, which moves into a fruity citrus flavor, without the poignant bitterness. The finish is more citrus, with a touch of bitterness.

I like this style; all the flavor and aroma of hops, without any of the lingering bitterness. It allows me to appreciate a hop profile I normally don't enjoy too much.

12oz bottle served in a tulip. I don't see a date.

Pours very hazy pale amber with a smallish head and a lot of slow carbonation. Smell is mango/citrus.

Taste is hops -- hop resin, hop flowers. Citrus is definitely still there, somewhat orangey.

Mouthfeel is thick, and resinous, and dry. Overall, good beer.

▪ 《If beer be the food of life... as you like it!》
On draught. Jan. 2018.
Opaque blonde; very cloudy.
Fresh herbal flavors.
Low carbonation. Thin lacing.
Incredible taste. Hops and yeasts. Less bitter than most American IPAs, but still massively hoppy.
Spring is coming early in Wisconsin... at least in the tap room!

Poured 12oz bottle into Teku. Very cloudy and dirty yellow color with a 1.5 finger white head. Plenty of webbed lacing all over the glass. Smell is big on fresh, juicy tropical notes from all the different hops. Plenty of mango, pineapple, passion fruit, along with citrus. Some nice sweet honey and light malt to balance it out. after a few of these, I'm giving the aroma a perfect 5. Flavor is packed with hops and juicy, very good with some tangerine, grapefruit, mango, pineapple. Nice mouthfeel with excellent carbonation. Very sticky and juicy. I think this is well done for a first bottling. Put this in a Tired Hands can and no one would be the wiser.

On tap. 12oz served in a snifter glass. Pours a hazy golden-orange body, a bit on the dull hue, one finger white head, good retention. Not much lacing. Smell is freshly squeezed oranges and grapefruit; it's a very nice aroma that I could appreciate as soon as the server came up with my glass. Pulpy, resinous, zesty, but without any sort of bitter resin or caramel malt. That's the way it should be. Flavour follows, although the hop flavours are a bit duller than you'd expect based on the aroma. Mild-moderate zesty bitterness on the backend, and as expected minimal caramel sweetness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, appropriately carbonated, a fair bit of zesty bitterness, about what you'd expect. Overall, this is one of the first IPAs in Wisconsin that have come close to accomplishing the stylistic mindset here, and I hope they continue to finetune and improve this offering.

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a 12 oz bottle on June 17, 2017. Brewed with Denali, Citra, Eldorado and Galaxy hops. Expect a big fruity hop nose, on a soft and slightly cloudy body.
