definitely a better pale than its getting credit for being here. sure its a little maltier than many in the american style, but i think the grain flatters the piney hops in this one, which are dosed high on the edge of ipa really, and its quite well put together. great head, lasting and white on top of the clear but dark almost copper colored brew. piney hops, oils, fresh, hints of some yeast sediment, but i dont see it. the taste is like the aroma, the hops are more balanced here though. it seems a tad muted compared with the nose, which promised a big flavor jolt. i like the beer though, the malt sweetness is surpassed in the middle by the hops, and there is indeed a little yeast flavor as it winds down. hop burps for miles too. good carbonation and nice finish for how malty the middle is. i havent had a ton of beer from these guys, but i have liked very well the few i have had. this is definitely better than its scores here, but i dont think it holds up too well over time. maybe they have some older bottles out there, i dont know, but mine tasted good.

12oz bottle. Served in a pint glass.

Pours a slightly hazy copper body, one finger white head, good retention, some lacing. Smells of grain, a bit of a bready lagery taste, minerals, not a whole lot else. Fairly light on the hops of any kind. If not for the appearance, I'd wonder if I was drinking a mildly hoppy lager. Flavour is mildly bready, caramel, grains, a bit of pine, a fairly non-distinct, mildly bitter finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, just about the best part of the beer. Mild, somewhat bland bitterness, slight metallic bite on the end. Overall, this is a fairly average-to-below-average APA but I can see this having some appeal to people who like to drink AAL's.

from a single into an imperial pint, pours a mildly hazy deep dark copper with a big khaki head and decent lacing. Nose lacks definition...a lot of graininess, with some vague pine and a hint of citrus on the edge. Taste starts out okay, some bready malty notes, some resin, some honey-sweetness even... but there is a kind of metallic and grainy and lemon-peel-dry(if that's possible) edge that comes on for the back half and then lingers; it is problematic, and it is difficult to get past. The mouthful is pretty good, well carbonated and a nice crispness, finishing dry.

Pours a clear golden amber color with white head. Light citrus and pine with a balance of bready malt on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes pretty balanced between the hops and malt.
